Rugby League Across the Pond

Post by toronto saracen » 18 Apr 2011, 20:28

Hey all,

I posted some photos last summer of Rugby League in Canada (http://www.casforum.co.uk/forum/viewtop ... 11&t=18156).

For those interested, here's a quick update in the growth of RL here in the Great White North. Over the winter we doubled the size of our domestic competition by adding two new teams. These new teams are the Scarborough Centurions (named after sponsoring team Leigh Centurions) and the York Region Reds (named after sponsors Salford City Reds). Our returning clubs are the Toronto City Saints (sponsored by St Helens) and the Niagara Bobcats. The aforementioned Super League teams have provided our fledgling clubs with kit and access to resources like coaching – for instance Kieron Purtill (coach at St Helens) who travelled with the Canadian squad last year for two international games.

So our domestic season started last week here in Toronto and we have photos and press releases at the two following links:

Enjoy the pics. And congrats to the Tigers on the great start to the 2011 season! I’m cheering for Cas from all the way over here in Canada!

-Colin
