Your right mate people can come on here and happy clap all they want if we line up roberts at 1 ellis at 6 thats a hell of a lot weaker than hardaker at 1 roberts at 6 imo

I think we all have to realise Hardaker is the best out and out full back we will get. It is not Daryl Powell or Steve Gill who has f***ed us over it is ZH. One month ago we had the best English full back for 3 years. Now we don't, but if you find a available fullback of zaks quality for less than what we paid for him then you need to be in the industry. As Ellis has quoted Powell was speaking to him mid season, before any of this happened with Zak. Which could suggest he is competition for Roberts and Gale like Rangi was.

Only one bloke to point the finger at. ZH.
Yep if ellis is come to compete at half back off bench he could spell mcshane thats fine i personally think we need a proven full back for next year even if its a makeshift one for a season id go down that route rarher than have roberts at full back but thats just me

Sack Powell! Sack Gill! Let's go support the flstcappers !!!
Moley you are a Muppet pal, people are allowed an opinion when we have replaced Zak hardaker with Jamie Ellis , hardly set the world alight has he and we have just finished 12 points clear of super league! Jamie Ellis was average last time and he's average now. Whether Powell can transform him, that's the only debate to be had

FFS unless we bring in billy slater we are going to be weaker than 2017. Zak is the best FB in super league bar none. Simple as.

So get used to that fact now.

Lets hope we get 2 quality props.

Happy days roll on 2018

Here here fords. Some folk will never ever be happy. They'd moan if we signed Slater as he's in his 30s!! Might go watch the Muppet show hahaha
Haha

Interesting point ZH made before he f***ed up.... Benny was due to be number 1 before he came, then Zak then got 1.. chase was 6.. Roberts ended up 16 and was a little annoyed by being 16 at the start of the year.

When news of Zak filtered through most people immediately thought about the grand final. The harsh reality is this will hit us far harder than losing a key player 2 days before the season ends. 90% of players will be tied down to contracts for next year and the remainder arnt for a reason,to get a player of Zak hardaker is nigh on impossible without a huge amount of luck.

We have a few options. Keep our powder dry and see what the new season brings and see who's not getting a game in the NRL.in the meantime we go into the new season with Roberts/Eden or see how the u19s full backs go in pre season.

Or

Go out and make a signing on a whim that IMO would be a huge gamble without doing proper due diligence on the player.we may get lucky but in all likelihood we'd be stuck with a player that doesn't fit the bill.

The last thing we want is a panic signing like when monners got a 2 year deal after the Carney saga.

I think Benny was 16 based on his horrendous injury record up to the start of last season ....

All the nrl teams have star fullbacks there must be a number of players like kevin locke playing in the level below the nrl who we could look at zak was outsanding but hes almost certainly not going to be available for the foresable got to get on with it now

Would be difficult to get anyone in from the lower leagues in Ozz tigerfeat , new rules im led to believe is that the player has to have played in 75 % of nrl games the previous season or have a yearly contract value of 100k. But if they have a U.K. Passport it's slightly easier but still count as NFT

Dan Sarginson anyone? Can't get in at GC. Got a feeling like Burgess if he came back it would be to Wigan.

Agree, but do we have quota space ? Have we signed Clark from HKR or not ? If not then we have one space left by my reckoning :-
Hitchcox
Lo
Roberts
Millo
Junior
JSL

Well...Ellis is certainly a "BIG" signing (for a half back) :)

Good kicking game, don't get the 3 year deal though, just hope its a cheap one.

According to today's Hull Daily Mail Clark is a done deal, meaning no Aussie full back ](*,)

I hope Jamie goes out and proves most of the posters wrong as he must be over whelmed with the reception he is being given on here, the lad as been offered a contract by CAS that he as taken up , if our coaching staff think the lad is worth a contract that will do for me, welcome aboard Jamie

Why do you think there are more posts questioning this signing than praising it?

A lot of this negativity is still around due to the GF debacle and people may be looking for a "Boost" to lift that gloom. Just because people arent 100% behind everything the club does doesnt mean they are doom and gloom merchants does it?

A forum is there to discuss issues around the club and you will always get differing extreme views. Have you seen a post that really believes Ellis is what we need? Take your time looking for that one Gateman?

The only thing we need is 2 props.

FB can be sorted by moving Roberts there either for 2yrs until Zak returns or until we can find a quality replacement if we get rid of him.

I wouldnt think even tho its a three year deal ellis will be on any big bucks powell likes him and thinks he can do a job thats fine as fords just said its more important we bring in two good forwards its been clear since the midle of the summer the big unit prop is what we needed so theres been plenty of time to get the right guy with other players leaving and andy lynch hanging his boots up we are in need of two good standard props now
