Squads for Saturday...

Post by Morrissey » 26 Jun 2008, 13:56

Non from Cas as of yet but from Leeds Rhinos Website...
Elsewhere in the 19 man squad, McClennan is without seven players who will be involved in the Gillette Fusion Test Match on Friday night whilst Nick Scruton will begin his three match ban and Carl Ablett has suffered an ankle injury in the defeat to St Helens last Friday.
The average age of the squad is 23 however only Joe Chandler and Michael Haley have not played for the first team this season and the latter has been playing for Doncaster in the Co-operative National League on loan.
The squad in full is:
01. Brent Webb
02. Scott Donald
05. Lee Smith
08. Kylie Leuluai
09. Matt Diskin
11. Jamie Jones-Buchanan
14. Ali Lauitiiti
16. Ryan Bailey
21. Jordan Tansey
22. Ryan Hall
23. Danny Williams
24. Luke Burgess
25. Danny Allan
26. Ben Kaye
28. Simon Worrall
30. Michael Haley
32. Kallum Watkins
33. Joe Chandler
34. Ben Jones-Bishop

I have posted before that I don't think we will ever get a better chance to beat Leeds twice, and even with Ali Lautiti returning (who won't be at his best by any means) we should in theory be too strong. However I have seriously got to state that as we know with Cas it is our logic to do things in reverse, and win the impossible and lose the winnable, and their is still a ridiculous amount of quality in that Leeds team in Webb, Donald, JJB Diskin et al. They are also noted for having one of the best academies in the game, so I hope and pray we won't understimate them.

Good Cas team, if the Leeds team stays the same i would honestly expect to get 30 against them.

The squad of 19 has to be submitted 48 hours before the match and so the team selected from the 19 man squads should have no deviations or changes from those given today.

But we only have 18, so how does that work?
Are we keeping the door open for someone?

Normally you would put in an Academy player to make up the numbers.
Is there still an outside chance that Sergeant will turn out?

Rumour over on t'Leeds board is that Tansey has picked up an injury and will miss the game.

Rumour on Sky is Leeds will play some of their England stars despite them not being named in the 19 man squad.

A bit like Saints did with Wellens a few years back? I just fancy they'll use the international game as an excuse and the RFL won't say a word against them.

As with the previous system clubs should continue to pick their strongest squad available to them and should not suggest to the public that their team is stronger or weaker than is it by publishing misleading information.

That was a quote given regarding the squad announcement of picking a 19 man squad 48 hours before hand, so I dont think that it would be possible for him to change the squad unless as Dettoriman says, McClennan can provide evidence of a medical problem.
