SHENTON: Tigers want to show their Sunday best

Post by Di » 03 Jul 2008, 15:25

It will be good to get back on the horse when we play Hull KR at the Jungle on Sunday.
The defeat at Leeds was a massive disappointment for the players and the whole club and we're looking forward to getting out on the pitch and putting that behind us.

Yawn (not at you Di)

Isn't anyone else fed up with the usual cliches?

"We want to put it behind us"

"Let's get back to basics"

etc etc

Yepp, im very fed up of looking in the Cas and Ponte and seeing headlines like 'DIXON SAYS CAS CAN TOPPLE OLD CLUB' for example as if why do they say this, building everyone up only to dissapoint, i would'nt mind if we came close but they thrashed us.

Like listening to a broken record ..... how about drop the stupid comments and cliches .... and pull you fingers out of your backsides and play rugby (to a standard above NL1).

At least its not TM's usual .... the season starts here/a fresh start crap.

What happens if in every interview, PodCas etc the players and TM look dejected, fed up, low on confidence etc? Maybe that's how they ought to feel but equally doesn't that make it even easier for teams to beat us?

All I'm meaning is if you look defeated, then you kind of are before you start. Surely things are bad enough without encouraging the players to walk around with their lip out........ ;)

Some ought to hang their heads in shame you might argue, but other shouldn't have to suffer the same.

Not saying they should look dejected, down or fed up. Maybe a coach saying something thats sounds like he is filled with confidence, belief. Whenever I hear or see TM on anything be it TV, podcast ect .... he really doesnt sound that bothered and sounds like he has no confidence. And sometimes thats shown in some of the players media appearances.

I hope they realise that if they get a franchise that they are a tad lucky because alot of people will argue we don't deserve one. Although i think we will get one, we really do need to start focusing on looking to put back to back wins in last 8/9 games and show that where a team who don't give up whatever the downfalls or situation, to be fair this season we have had alot of scores that have been 30-40+ but the next week we've kind of took it on the chin and played a little bit better and looked forward to the future, hopefully if we get this franchise we don't just look to build till they hand the next franchises out in 2-3 years time, but i suggest and im sure everyone reading will agree that the 2009 season is the season we push on and start aiming for higher positions and showing what Castleford can contribute to the rugby world.

Im hoping to have -

- A few top/world class players in that provide depth and leadership with experience.

- More young talent because our 18's have fantastic futures and attitutudes. Look after our wonderful youth and develop more players like young Joe, Richard, Boyley, Craig and Shenny.

- Showing hunger and passion to play for the club and paying back fans for a dismal year and getting more away wins under belt.

- But overall really challenge SL and be looking to finish higher than 8th and progress to 6th and finish in a top 6 slot come PO times,

Some people may be growing weary of the cliches but I'm getting that way about the hype about our 'wonderful young players' as if they are the saviours of the club and british rugby league in general. Westerman, Owen, Boyle, Huby, Shenton

Werent all the aforementioned players in the team that got embarrassed at Headingley last week? These players for all their youth have now got quite a number of first team games under their belts. In comparison some of the Leeds youngsters on Saturday were not even known to their own supporters. But I forget it was all Korkidas' fault.

Total rose tinted over hype at times.

This post is not a critisism of the young players.

How about they look angry, talk of fire in bellies and then go out and perform.

They wouldn't need cheap spin then would they, the fans would natuarally feel better?
