could a ground share be on the cards?

Post by leachy`s dad » 23 Jul 2008, 15:56

with a decision by WMDC expected in august regarding funding for the new stadium and with the current financial climate as it is,does anyone else fear funding depends on a ground share with that spawny set on the other side of normy?
think about it,they(Pussycats) have NO CHANCE of a new stadium by 2011 and can u really see wakey council funding 2 stadium projects in its boundaries?
the only stumbling block i can see to this ,is that both teams have to generate £4 million each as part of their franchise ambitions ,could this be achieved whilst ground-sharing?
thoughts please....

ive thought that for a while and i feel glasshoughton has gone to far down the road for it now to be knocked back so any ground share would surley be up their.

i dont mind wakey having to play in cas in our brand new shiney stadium paying rent.

Wakey can shove it. Bradford would never be expected to play at HEadingley or visa-versa .... sod em'. They cant afford a ground or get plans into play in time, they can enjoy the delights of NL1. With how far the new ground plans have gone, I would very much presume we can build and run a new stand on our own.

What makes me laugh is how the wakey fans keep saying we are just a small town and they are a big massive city, but still they cant find any ground to build there stadium on .Little old cas have a massive amount of space to build ours on and thats just what we are doing.
Just been up to escape and had a good look at the work going on, it's getting flatter by the day :D . Keep it up waystone.

We've got the land, planning permission, sold the ground etc so by rights the council should give priority to us first. Wakey haven't even found a piece of land suitable yet and if they fail to do so then goodbye.

heheheh wakey saying were just a small town. Yet we manage to pull in more fans than them plus quins (who happen to play in englands largest city) put together.

Maybe they should merge with fev ,.... about their standards. Plus they just might double their attendances.

Same here. It wasnt long ago we had wakey fans on the radio bleating that they were the only sl club in the area and deserved a stadium. I really hope they dont get one and spend years in the NL. All the best to them, not. :P  :hand:

Can you honestly seeing, even with money, WMDC given planning permission to build a stadium at Thornes Park. It would be a traffic nightmate on match day. Obviously the parking would be a nightmare for the away fans only. Cos the only fans they get can both walk together to the game.

wakefield m.d.c. will not see the wildcats kicked out of superleague, so therefore cas will get the shortfall in money from the council for the stadium. thus leaving the door open for them to fund virtually all the money for the wildcats. giving us a few million will be all the justification they need and to appease voters.

Why would we want to share with a team that we are rivals with its ridicolous! why would we do all the planning and hard work for Wakey to basically have it easy and share with us! not on at all, same with Fev, if they want a stadium so bad then they should start shagging Chris Moyles for funds.

A few mllion !!! I'm sure many employees of Wakefield Council will not be impressed with money spent on a new stadium, when their employees are being made redundant, losing jobs, making two jobs into one, constantly being made aware to cut costs, and being offered a 2.45% rise. Certain departments of WDMC have over- spent their budget and surely if Council money is used to build rugby stadiums, then the money will have to come from somewhere, which will probably mean higher Council Tax, and cut backs on essential services etc.

also is doesn't take sherlock holmes to work out that the wmdc funding announcement was planned for august well after the franchise announcement. they hoped cas or wake would fail so they could just fund one stadium.

They are not obliged to fund either stadium, in fact they don't have the money to do either by the sounds of things.

some people have missed the point in what im trying to make...others have it spot on....
the council have overspent everywhere, hence huge rises in council tax,our share of the cost of the stadium was,as i understand it,going to be the lowest, which is why RW wouldnt go into detail at the civic centre meeting therefore if the council dont put in what we thought they were gonna, who is going to make up the shortfall and how?
lets remember that the next set of licence proposals have to start being planned from 2010 onwards.we HAVE TO BE in a new stadium by then otherwise we could find ourselves under pressure once again.remember ,this new stadium is not solely ours like the jungle is now.
