QUARTET LEAVE THE TIGERS

Post by Jack Bauer » 17 Sep 2008, 12:59

Castleford Tigers have confirmed that Peter Lupton, Mark Leafa, Ned Catic and Adam Fletcher will all be leaving the club. All four of the players were out of contract at the end of the campaign just ended.
Although six players have already moved on, the Tigers have unveiled seven new signings for 2009 and there are more to come on board as the club strengthens for Super League XIV (and beyond). It may also be the case that further players will leave.

Not surprised by the others leaving but Lupton has been one of this seasons unsung heroes.

Who demanded a silly wage and as a result was shown the door, He was never going to get any better than he is - And i arent bothered were letting him go - In fact i arent bothered were letting any of these go, It would have been good to have kept Catic but he is on quota

So where does that leave Hendo and Wainwright?
I assume that we have offered them contracts which they have not yet refused.

They have both been offered shocking deals and will both reject them to take up bigger deals from Featherstone i think - Although i wouldnt be surprised if Wainright doesnt try and see if he can get a similar deal closer to home ie batley or someone

Hendo and Wainwright that's all that is left .

Maybe they don't want to stand down because they want to rectify the mistakes they've made in seasons gone by.

There is a slight glimmer of hope for Hendo and Wainwright, but I can't see either staying.
Lupton will be a loss, but if he was after silly money then it's a good thing really.
All the very best to them all at their new teams.

If Lupton has been offered a better deal elsewhere and simply asked if Cas would match it, then fair enough. Wish him well wherever he ends up (as long as it is not Fev or Wakie).

Perhaps a bit that was on offer to him could now be diveted to keep Hendo and Wainwright. And, that qualilty full-back that we need.

Not too fussed to be honest.

Catic was the only one worth keeping but if we bring in better quality then obviously thats what i want.

Bless lil fletch, he's gunna miss his nights in ponte.

Shame we could not keep Lupton. He offers a tremendous amount of utility value.

This is the problem with offering huge contracts to second rate players. When the likes of Korkidas, Hudson etc are earning more than Roby and other top internationals something is wrong.

If we managed our finances right I'm sure we'd have been able to offer Lupton and Hendo (if he leaves) a better contract.

Not suprised by any of them names, time for them to move on, Catic will be a miss but a miss that is replaceable, been impressed with Lupton this year, shame he's wanting so much and that Cas cannot come to agreements. Glad Leafa's going he's been poor even before the broken arm and Flether =

Apparently Lupton is going to Wales to sign with Celtic Crusaders and Ned Catic has been rumoured to be off back to Belle Vue next season

When the club state other players leaving, could they also mean Korkidas, who is going to Huddersfield?

I really hope so. Also, it states other players are coming in. Will these players be Super League quality players who will be pushing for first team action each week, thus making the team stronger in depth and players competing for places or will these new players be just there to fill up the squad? No disrespect to James Ford, but players like him.
