McGoldrick totally off quota now?

Does this mean McGoldrick is off the quota completely now, or something totally different, because the article doesn't make too much sense to me.

Maybe they don't want to stand down because they want to rectify the mistakes they've made in seasons gone by.

From reading that snippet it would appear any overseas player that was registered with a club before Feb 2008 could apply to be classed as fed trained.
So this could now mean McGoldrick, Evans and possibly Sherwin could all become fed trained players.

Someone didn't read the article (x3)

It's all double dutch, but to what I read from it any player registered with a club before all this fed/non fed/quota business came into effect can now apply to be a "fed" player and not count on the quota at all. :?

At the meeting held in Harrogate, engage Super League clubs unanimously agreed that the club trained rules should remain and that a number of players registered in the competition prior to the adoption of the club trained rules should count as federation trained players

Meaing any player that would not have counted on the old quota system e.g Kolpack European etc

Likes of Hendo,Leafa,Fletcher and from the past Manu,Fa'aoso and Viane would all now not count against the non fed/overseas quota

The only players that do count are the players that always would have e.g Sherwin,McGoldrick,Evans,Sargeant, etc will still count as they are Aussies who have never been exempt before or after the Rule Change.

So yeah read and understood it ;)

It doesn't say non-fed or quota players though, meaning all surely ;)

In terms of 'club trained', are these players brought through from an academy / youth system?

So what about British / English players bought from other clubs? I can understand clubs benefiting from bringing youth players through, but you can't treat an otherwise British player the same as a non fed import just because they originally came from a different club.

Just seems odd that the RFL after setting these rules have started offering up exemptions.

I think it means that all the licence rulings stay the same, except those players contracted before 2007 now count as Federation players - i.e. McGoldrick.

This means we'd still have a quota of 8 players, but it's so those people who were already here aren't put out of jobs because of the quota.
