Cas vs Super League
Cas vs Super League
With our new squad being close to finishing, I'm starting to compare our signings to that of other Super League teams.
Obviously we are the team that have most needed to recruit - due to lack of players and poor players etc. Rightly we have recruited good numbers. However, when I think about our signings compared to other clubs, such as Wakey, Hull, Harlequins and even Bradford, it makes good reading. Also, compare us to Salford and Celtic and also that makes good reading. Regarding the likes of Saints, Leeds, Wigan, Catalan and Warrington then they are still keen on improvement but they quite rightly so are happy with their squads.
I know there are plenty of months to still get players in for other teams but with regards to now it looks like we have improved greatly on paper, unlike teams such as Wakey and Bradford. Hopefully, with the way we have improved on paper this will have a great impact on our league position.
Hopefully, with the addition of our new players to our current squad we can climb above teams who haven't improved greatly in bringing in players. For example, Wakey who have lost players and are rumoured to be losing others due to numerous reasons and haven't brought in that many to replace or improve the squad.
Good luck will be needed for the squad, the coaches, BOD and the fans for the whole of the new season and I'm sure we'll be seeing our team win a lot more games next year.
As it goes.. COME ON YEEE FORDS!!

It's all about how this squad is now coached.
All in all it's a dam good squad, with lots of new faces in it.
Lets hope TM can get the best out of them and we can get off to a good start to the season.
Would really love to win our first game, cant remember the last time we won our first SL game.
I wont get to carried away until i see what we do in the friendlys, so far though things are coming together nicely the main piece of the jigsaw as yet to be put into place and thats the full back position.

I think this squad can go place in the up and coming season, recruitment as been as good as i can remember, Terry Matterson is actually getting players he wants and the team seem to be bonding even though some of only had a few weeks training Fordy was telling me that they've been having a laugh and competing with each other already in the gym (obviously apart from them who aren't there). Like people say will make a fascinating season and excitable one too.

having a nearly full squad for pre season is a massive advantage for us given most teams are missing plenty and many of those will need until at least xmas before they are ready to start training again following the world cup.
our squad looks solid with the exception of full back but im certain that will be adressed soon and we still have a quota spot availble too.things are looking good and i cant wait for the season to start.

Please Fully tell me your kidding! i don't think i could handle Wildbore at fullback against well any Super League team really.Fully wrote:Loz Wildbore.WHELDON-ROAD-END wrote:Number 1 question is who will have the 1 shirt next season?

If McGoldrick isn't the regular fullback and Dixon doesn't claim a wing spot then i agree (he's a better bet than Wainwright IMO).big-t wrote:Shentontigerdaz wrote:It's coming together although i still think we're lacking in the backs.
I'd like to see a winger, fullback and maybe a centre and i think then the squad will be complete
Dixon
Evans
McGoldrick
Ford
Arundal
Cordin
Surely there's enough centres.
I guess we'll have to see how Ford and the 2 academy lads go.

Well i always think a good pre season is putting out a good team to get confidence and fitness. I know its a good run out for the kids but i would rather see new signings play to be honest. Come February everyone has played a game maybe tried a few positions and feel comofortable with the players next to them.tigertrike wrote:I seem to remember a lot of people saying this at the same time last year.. We have made improvements but we will have to see how we fair next season . My eye will be on the coaching side of things, no excuses this time .
Maybe they don't want to stand down because they want to rectify the mistakes they've made in seasons gone by.
