Re: statement from Lateral
Taken from League Express :-
Castleford Tigers CEO Steve Gill has revealed to League Express that there could be an update on their stadium at Five Towns Park this week. The Tigers are hoping to move across the town into their new ground for the 2020 season, leaving the Mend-a-hose Jungle in the process. Lateral Property group were, in 2015 granted planning permission to develop land near junction 32 of the M62. Those plans included a park, shops , restaurants and a 10,000 capacity stadium for the Tigers.
Steve Gill said that the company tasked with the development are expected to announce something this week - but he is not completely sure what it will be. "I'm informed that the company in question - Lateral - are making an announcement on the 28th April", he said. "I still don't know what is in the announcement though and we don't try and get too involved in it. "we've done what we feel we need to do and now they're on with lots of other things, like writing cheques and, dotting the "I's" and crossing the "T's". They've told me that on the 28th they'll release a statement, but for the club to announce something, I've got to be happy with it. I won't announce anything which could provide false hope".
However, Steve Gill hinted that the news could be positive. "Hopefully it's good news; all the indications are that it is good. But I won't put anything out until then to be honest. When it's announce by them. I just want to make sure it's all 100 per cent and not go down the route of whats happened in the past. "I won't go announcing things unless we at Castleford are absolutely sure and it's positive news".

Re: statement from Lateral
A good response from Steve but his comments do worry me a little. I'd have thought an announcement on Match day Saturday, maybe at half time would lift us all.

Re: statement from Lateral
But in saying that, you don't plan big announcements that are negative and hype it up. So lateral must be up to something good. Here's hoping.

We aren't Wakefield. Make a big to-do to launch a new lottery, or get the begging bowls out.
I suspect it will be an update on everything going on along with next steps and an anticipated date to show plans of the new stadium for public viewing.

Re: statement from Lateral
I'd like a "it starts Monday " and "12000 capacity " and " ready for 2020 or we'll buy you as many Burgesses as you want "
Re: statement from Lateral
I'd like it to say "Bob the head of construction is a Cas fan and just won £125,000,000 on the Euros he is give £100,000,000 to the club and has already cracked on. Look here he is in his digger!"

Bit naughty there Hudds. Not like having a bloke with a hard hat on, stood in front of the cameras turning the first sod over?HuddsTigers wrote:We aren't Wakefield. Make a big to-do.
I'm back with a slightly different username, got kicked off for some reason, it wouldn't accept my password saying it was incorrect (my mothers maiden name). Requested a new password by mail and that never came.

Re: statement from Lateral
I have a feeling this may be more about Lateral than the actual stadium.
"Castleford's biggest home crowd of the 1991-1992 season wasn't quite 12,000 while on average they'd sit around 6000 but the noise, the chanting and the singing just blows you away" - Tawera Nikau "Standing Tall"

Re: statement from Lateral
It's not likely to be anything groundbreaking, pardon the pun.
More an update of sorts I would guess. They have been fairly consistent in that regard.

Re: statement from Lateral
For anyone looking at this with doubt or half-glass empty, a look at how much they've spent on this project will tell you how serious they are and how likely this is going to happen.
There's been a lot of hurdles to get over and while some may view this with doubt, we should all view this with optimism. We are working with organisations that are committed to making this happen.
There are retailers already signed up (publicly announced before), they've been working hard to dot the i's and cross the t's. It's clear that Lateral don't want to commit to dates and give false dawns and will only tell us when there's something worth telling. But it reads as if we're very close and we should take heart from that.

Re: statement from Lateral
I think it's positive with reservations. I think the problem is the pension fund have the money to build but with the tenants needing to be line prior to actually spending more money.
Its almost like the nw scheme in so much as the need to commit a larger percentage to join. We must be pretty close.
