Re: Best overseas player
They're all of their time I guess, I haven't spent a lot of time watching all of them.Danny Boy wrote:Grant Millington is right up there for me
Vowles is an obvious choice because of the time he was here.
Manu was brilliant to watch.
Nutley and Millington in their own jobs, probably not fair to mention them together as they're so different.
In our wilderness, I was a massive fan of Steve Crouch, top bloke, good man and the line he ran for the try from back row in the GF was poetry.
It is hard to look beyond Nikau, as someone said previously he was a next generation player at the time.
Re: Best overseas player
Made me smile thinking about T when he got mad hed make four or five tackles back to back ramming blokes into ground lol

Re: Best overseas player
Above all, my favourite was Tawera Nikau, loved him even when he was at Wire....top bloke.
Next 2 for me would be
Adrian Vowles
Grant Millington
Honorable mentions for Dale Fritz, Aaron Raper, Luke Dorn, Brad Davis, Danny Nutley

At the moment Jesse he is like having another man on the field with his enthusiasm and encouragement of all the lads on the park. This was typified on Thursday when Cas were behind the sticks and he gee'd all the players up then turned to the crowd and pumped them up too.
Then for me it's Nikau and Wayne Bartrim

Wayne Bartrim, hilarious bloke and massively underrated too. I forgot Aaron Raper. I had the pleasure of a few drinks with Wayne and Gibbo when he was here too - good people, but Bartrim could really play.TT Tiger wrote:At the moment Jesse he is like having another man on the field with his enthusiasm and encouragement of all the lads on the park. Re: Best overseas player
I hadn't really thought of Rangi as an overseas player but if he isn't now he started as one so for long term impact I would add him to my three in place of Manu

Re: Best overseas player
Davis and Vowles for me, played in the era I barely missed a game and were back to help us gain promotion. The third is difficult to pick, but I will have to go T. Like someone said, when he got mad and did a full set of tackles or grabbed there shirt tails and sat to haul them down. Even the fact he looked as wide as two players at the shoulders but so lean. Met him with the real trophy too. Sure I've a picture somewhere, I couldn't lift it, but he made it look like it was made of paper lifting it one armed.
Long live the Tigers!!!

Re: Best overseas player
It can't be understated how important a signing Grant Millington has been for this club, imo he's been the very back bone of this side for the past 3 seasons, and in that time you can count on 1 hand how many below par games he's had, the signings of Gale, Hardaker, Moors, Macca over a period of time have just complimented him.

Brad Davis,
Luke Dorn
Grant Millington
I'm too new to the game to know much about Vowles but i know he's a club legend. Those 3 I named are the 3 I've seen have a huge impact on this club though.
