2017 Dream Team

Post by Le Van » 19 Aug 2017, 18:58

Just seen a clip on YouTube where Alex Simmons suggests to Zac that we might have as many as 8 players in the 2017 Dream Team this season.

I know that I may be a little biased, but I would say that 8 would be the bare minimum.

Does anyone know what the record is?

Wigan had seven in 2001.
Hull had 6 last year.
I think we'll have Hardaker, Shenton, Eden, Gale, McMeekan and Millington as certainties.
Whether we get the record depends on McShane, JSL and Moors who I think stand a chance.

Moors missed a lot of games so possibly won't make it.

Hardaker
Eden
Shenton
Gale
Millington
McShane
McMeekan

7 for me. I would have JSL but not sure he will make the cut.

Not sure on other winger
Percival centre
Albert Kelly at stand off
Walmsley
Big Ben Murdoch
Not sure at loose. Probably Sean O'L

The trouble is that I'm not sure JSL has a clear position.
If he's considered as a prop he'll miss out to Walmsley.
If he is considered a back-rower he'll miss out to Murdoch-Masilla.
However, there is no obvious choice for loose-forward this year. Its become such a non-descript position in recent years that clubs tend to just play with an extra prop or back-rower there, so it wouldn't surprise me if JSL was selected.

I'd go with Fonua as the other winger.

Adam Milner will surely be 13. Ask any player in the current Cas team who the first player on the the team sheet is and they will all say Adz I reckon

Can't believe nobody mentioned Moors

Before injury without doubt he was the best forward in the league

Too many wearing black and amber specs. Millo has been good but there have been props at other clubs just as good if not better.

Here's mine:

Hardaker
Marshall
Atkins
Percival
Eden
Moon
Gale
Walmsley
McShane
Taylor
Moors
Murdoch-Masila
Cuthbertson

Perhaps controversial picking Atkins over Shenton but I think he's been Warrington's most dangerous player. He's a selfish centre whereas Shenton isn't.

Although scoring a lot of tries Marshall hasn't done anything else and Wigan fans don't want him in their team. Moon over Kelly is a bad choice and I would pick Shenton over Atkins. The bias in me wants to pick McShane but I might opt for Parcell. Otherwise I'd agree!

Millington is pretty unique these days, a ball handling prop; he has the skills of a half back, plays big minutes, makes the hard yards, puts in big hits and he does it all brilliantly - a fantastic all round rugby league player. One of the best imports ever to don a Cas shirt. Number one Super League prop 2017 for me

Moon at 6??? Wow. Kelly has been the best 6 in the league easily.
Not sure how you can have Moors over McMeekan this year alone.

I agree about Millo. A very special player and one of the most underrated in the game. First pick for the Dream Team for me
