Re: Jamie Ellis
A lot of their overseas players were dual nationals I believe so could play for France/counted as European.St Albans tiger wrote:I am not sure its quite as simple as everyone makes out - I know Koucash raised the same objections at Catalans earlier in the year when they had 9 overseas players - the RFL advised they were operating within side the rules - I don't confess to know how though but there does seem to be exemptions
It's bizarre that Clark is eligible to play for England and is English but counts as non-fed. Surely something we could purseu there?
Also, people are assuming that everyone currently at the club is fixed. I'd say that if we needed to make room, we could always send someone out on a season-long loan (e.g. Garry Lo).
In the spirit of the final Blackadder episode - Goooodbyeee!

Is lo kolpak so not counted on either quota?

Having 2 back up wingers on the quota seems silly now

They also used a loophole in the exemptions. Anyone playing SL before the rule came into force was exempt from the rule, even if they went back to Australia and then returned to SL.HuddsTigers wrote:A lot of their overseas players were dual nationals I believe so could play for France/counted as European.St Albans tiger wrote:I am not sure its quite as simple as everyone makes out - I know Koucash raised the same objections at Catalans earlier in the year when they had 9 overseas players - the RFL advised they were operating within side the rules - I don't confess to know how though but there does seem to be exemptions

For example, Sam Moa is exempt from the non-fed rule as he played at Hull FC before it came into force. Similarly, Dobson is exempt at Salford.
I'm not keen on the rule in general. At the moment, the likes of Widdop would count on the non-fed quota. However, it was in response to clubs taking the micky out of the previous system by getting players passports from countries by rather dubious means (Hull KR and Willie Mason).

He's counted on the non-fed quota regardless.TT Tiger wrote:Is lo kolpak so not counted on either quota?
