if every building development etc stopped at the whim / change of direction of the economy nowt would have been built for the last 1000 years. (says me)

I would imagine keeping the town centre store open would mean paying rent and maybe having one member of staff selling a m and s product. Paying up for 3 years at that level would be cheap in comparison to trying to get our off a multi million pound build and agreement at five towns.

I personally don't think a town centre lives or dies on one store. They may want to sell the store and relocate to a smaller one.

I think the development is funding the 2 town stores as part of the deal

Regarding M&S:

They were looking to close the town centre store anyway. With the concerns about the impact on the town centre, Lateral have agreed to cover the costs of the town centre store for the next 3 years and refurbish it, as the post above says.

In all reality, I can't see them pulling out. The footfall they would gain from being in that area and a bigger store would be significant. Especially if they can get cheaper rent costs than J32 too.

Next time you go into your local in Normy Gateman ask them how they feel about the cost of the up-grade to Belle Vue coming out of the rate-payers pockets and where are the community facilities going to fit into the scheme.

They hope.

Still some twists and turns in this me thinks, and also, will it ever be what the club needs. Do they have any ability to upgrade the stadium further in the future? They are shackled in with no ground of real potential IMO.

And yet no one knows what deal is, what the club has to pay or anything.

The fact that everything is smoke and mirrors at the moment says a lot to me.

On ours, the car garage planning application is still pending (council won’t meet now until January).

And the last update was that the groundworks had been started with electric cables being laid.

Let’s hope it’s within the first 6 months and not the 2nd 6 months.

Any bets on Wakefield getting their new ground before us!!

11 years on (2007 according to Wikapeadia) and still not a brick laid at our new ground.
