I think this is exactly what m and s want. A flagship store to show their wares and facility to order online in store with free delivery. A bit like Argos but you can see and try the product on. Free delivery if not in stock.Flat Capper wrote:Wonder if M&S are still involved?

Re: New Ground for Cas or NOT !
Listening to the M&S executive's interview on TV, they are closing some traditional stores but opening others to fit recent shopping habits i.e. On-line, and out of town big stores with free parking. I don't know how successful the retail units in Junction 32 actually are, but the place is always busy.mart0042 wrote:I think this is exactly what m and s want. M&S live off their food sales - they may put a food hall in place which will be a good revenue creator

I thunk we are moving towards a shopping centre where you can try on any size and colour of an item and order. It makes sense as most people find what they are after and get it cheaper online. But there is a place for a company so that you can see and feel their stuff.

Re: New Ground for Cas or NOT !
Probably not given he's explained in the video posted above that there's some commercially sensitive stuff and that's why they aren't able to announce a lot of things. They've said they're going to announce more in the summer, which suggests they have more tenants already signed up.
I'd also point out that the plan was that they were going to do it through a forward funding agreement with a pension fund (whether that's changed with the Axiom and the new investment provider they're partnered with I don't know). But in essence, someone was going to provide the capital to take place with a final payment upon completion.
Presumably (as discussed historically) this was conditional on a certain number of tenants being signed up of which we've already 3 anchor tenants announced (Primark, Next, M&S).
More info on forward funding can be found here: https://www.first4lawyers.com/business- ... d-funding/

very true, our ground is on its knees & if anyone looks beyond the pitch they will see the ground is in desperate need of a re-furb & if the rfl go back to franchising we could be kicked out.tigerfeat wrote:The only thing that worries me is all our eggs are in one basket this as got to happen now for the future of the club

Fev might have some nice stands they managed to get on the cheap but it doesn't enhance the atmosphere, doesn't increase the commercial opportunities. We could do the same by knocking down the Railway End but it would still make it look like we're just glamming it up for the sake of it than doing an actual proper job.

Interesting take on the Cappers patch but not entirely true:HuddsTigers wrote:But in the old saying, you can't polish a proverbial.tigerfeat wrote:The only thing that worries me is all our eggs are in one basket this as got to happen now for the future of the club

They are never going to have a large match-day corporate set-up but the new stands have allowed extra bars and indeed, small units that operate throughout the week. Their clubhouse is busy most weekend evenings and they tend to host most of the amateur cup finals which brings in a few quid over the course of the season.
Not raking in millions but enough to allow some investment in a team for the championship and certainly a model that could be built on.
For Cas, it's not a question of trying to polish the proverbial but finding the investment for the polish.

Re: New Ground for Cas or NOT !
With this project being conceived around five year ago if not longer and around seventy units available and with only three portrayed as taken you must question is the sales team any good the old line of commercial sensitivity is another way of saying we cannot announce any more because there is no more tenants signed as previous poster has mentioned ground facilities will become an issue and without a new ground it does not look good for Castleford
Re: New Ground for Cas or NOT !
To knock what fev have done with there ground is ridiculous. Theve done a great job . In contrast Cas have done zilsh and longer the if and when carrys on the worse it will get . The toilets are embarrassing how we expect women to use them and remember we've just increased general admission is crazy. Sometime soon Toronto will get into super league and maybe other new franchises can you honestly see Cas allowed in a global super league with that ground . One of the worst things for me and sums up our present situation is the Arthur Atkinson gates they are disgusting and disrespectful to his great achievement and memory. Why cant we give them six months to start the project or WE pull out and look for funding to work on the old lady because without us they cant build nothing so who needs who most.

Re: New Ground for Cas or NOT !
It may good enough for a Championship side where your attendances are 2.5k to 3k a week but not enough for a competitive Super League side. Their turnover would probably be up there with Salford, Hudds, Widnes and Wakey.Flat Capper wrote:Interesting take on the Cappers patch but not entirely true:HuddsTigers wrote:But in the old saying, you can't polish a proverbial.tigerfeat wrote:The only thing that worries me is all our eggs are in one basket this as got to happen now for the future of the club

If they ever did want to be a Super League side, and a top one at that, they'd be in same boat as us. The Wakefield District is in bad need of one decent stadium. Fev may say they're happy there and that's fine for now, but in reality all 3 clubs should have got together with the council a long time ago, back before Wakey sold Belle Vue and built a joint stadium in the district centrally in Normanton, which is equi-distant between all 3.
At this moment, providing ours does indeed get built, it would put us in the best position of being the premier, elite club as I can't ever see Fev getting up and Wakey will not own theirs.
