Is it? I believe that’s the common assumption by fans but I don’t think it was ever said like that or confirmed?Dez wrote:Leeds signed him to help Sheffield financial situation it's common knowledge

Out of all the poor/average pre season signings, this one takes the biscuit. A 2 yr deal as well. You only have to look at the glaring fact to see the calibre of the signing.... he waa released by a club that retired/released their existing 6 & 7, he didnt fill their boots as hes deemed not good enough, so why his he good enough for a 2 yr deal with us. I also know a Fev fan who states he's garbage, and preferred Thackeray & Briggs to Aston playing.

Leeds released Gale too without him ever playing a game. He didn’t turn out too bad in the end.Jonny1975 wrote:Out of all the poor/average pre season signings, this one takes the biscuit. Re: Cory Aston
Leeds also have Jordan Lilley who they probably put more faith in and prefer, as well as signing a new experienced half in Myler keeping faith with Moon at 6 and then also having Sutcliffe as cover.
The fact that Moon played so well at 6 meant they didn’t feel he was worth retaining.
Remember Leeds are probably the best run club in Super League. They have taken a hit on Aston by paying for him and then letting him go for free. On another note, interesting that in the article from when they signed him, Pete Smith wrote that Leeds beat off other SL clubs.
He’s a young English half back with potential. There’s not many of those around, and they are a VERY valuable commodity if you develop them.

Re: Cory Aston
Don't buying clubs sell that "beat off other clubs for the signing" line to journo's though?
Re: Cory Aston
I saw him play part of a game at fev last year and he didnt look championship level if theve taken a punt and hope to improve him fine but lets not insult anyones intelligence by making him a prospect that people were desperate to get hold off ..mcllened maybe fell into that catogery

Most peoples views on things are based on assumptions and not always on fact. You of all people should know this Hudds.HuddsTigers wrote:Is it? We don't know the contact, maybe it's £5k a year work the rest coming in incentives or from a loan team.Jonny1975 wrote:Out of all the poor/average pre season signings, this one takes the biscuit. Maybe his dad wanted the best for his son and to be coaches by ex international coaches of quality. Maybe he'll liam him back but he trains with us all week.
The thing is we don't know but we do know that Cas aren't the walkovers of the past. We don't keep players on sentiment anymore.
