Five of Castleford's greatest ever Super League players

Thought I'd do something different for a change...any other stars you would add? https://uk.blastingnews.com/sport/2018/ ... 59069.html

Sampson
Dorn
Probably Webster
Gale has to be in any lists like this, despite a poor start this year, 3 time back to back AG medal winner and MOS winner.
For similar reason Daz Clark.

I was going to put Gale, but I don't think he's been here long enough yet to be called one of our greatest Super League players yet. Just my opinion.

Depends on how you look at it.
Our Man of Steel winners have got to be considered. However, Clark only did it it 2014 before he moved to Warrington and I think to be a ‘greatest ever player’ you need to have a few really good seasons.
Vowles was great 1998 to 2001 and led the team from potential relegation to one game from a Grand Final.
Gale has won AG medal for three consecutive years, MOS during the season we finished top of SL and has more England appearances than any other Castleford player during the SL era. If we end up winning any more silverware or he wins MoS with us for a second time, he will be up there with the best, not just in the SL era.
Shenton has been one of the best centres in the league for a number of years now.
Dale Fritz was one of the best defenders I’ve seen in a Cas shirt. He’d be up there for me.
Chase was a fantastic individual player, but his individuality often came at a cost to the team overall.

In terms of pure ability, I’d also say Hardaker and Solomona were two of the best we have seen. I wouldn’t consider them as ‘club greats’ but they were certainly great players during their time at the club!

Gale has got to be on the list, but it’s all down to personal preference and obviously, younger supporters won’t remember back to the beginning, some not even born then. Danny has been good, even coaching, then there’s Steady, he played some Superleague too, current players would include Millo, Lynchy has done us proud over many years, Vowlsey is a must, but how about Dorn and Davis? 5 not a big enough list for all the years in SL.

How about a SL only Cas dream team? What would peoples 1-13 be (plus 2/4 subs)?

Raper was quality. Massively underrated.

Gale is a must with his silverware. Club points record holder for a season. Played almost 100 games. Millo only played 60ish more.

Moors last year was a candidate for man of Steel towards the back end of last season and the start of this the lad does not look a patch on the player he was , so i can understand why no one as him on their lists, come on Julian show us what you are capable of and rip into HULL
