Weekend Weather Watch

Post by SuffolkTiger » 15 Mar 2018, 07:40

I'm travelling up for Sunday's game and would appreciate some local updates.

Met Office forecast for Cas at the moment best summed up as:

Friday - very wet & filthy (no Frankie Howard comments please!)
Saturday - snow overnight & then barely gets above freezing all day
Sunday - a bit of snow in the early hours & bitterly cold

Certainly won't be the dry track we are waiting for & definitely vest weather....

Doesn't look great. Could be called off again. Expecting heavy snow parts of tomorrow and throughout Saturday night and early Sunday.

I remember games back in the day on pitches with no grass, pools of water and players who were indistinguishable from each other within a few minutes, and changes of shirt at halftime. Better these days, but this last month...

I remember when in the 1968/69 season playing for Castleford boys modern at a school in the leeds area, wooden hut with holes and no lighting for changing room, and iced puddles all over the pitch. That was bloody cold and caused a few cuts, but we were hard back then. :)

at Normanton George Wilkinson brought coal from home to warm an oil drum full of water to get cleaned off after the match,I think he would be impressed with the new showers we have at Normy today

Had a bit of snow in Suffolk overnight - enough for my current wife to already be suggesting that the game will be off tomorrow as "it will be even worse up north and you can spend some quality time with me...."

Please tell me it's not such a gloomy picture up there.....

Only a light dusting of snow at Sunny Normanton, the knights are playing Rochdale Hornets today at Featherstone 2-0 KO in the challenge cup, I shall be going if the weather gets no worse

Reading between the lines, you seem not to agree on the definition of "quality"!

Tell her its stopped snowing but the brass monkeys are panicking.

Snowing on and off at min.
Swirling in the wind and pretty heavy at times.
I'm half a mile from ground and it's just starting to settle.
Hopefully not bad enough to postpone the game.
In saying that it's forecast heavy snow through night, hope it don't materialise.
Fingers crossed.

I think its 80/20 against at the Mo.
Its not so much the field but ice and snow on the terraces.

If the club read this and need ROCK SALT we have some 1 ton bags.

I was due tomorrow as well but I am fearful and a hard frost tonight.
My guess is a 9 am call off tomorrow.

BBC weather forecast looks pretty clear. Most of the impact tonight seems to be down in the southwest and Wales. No snow around overnight.

Should be fine and easy to clear on terraces. There’s naff all here in Leeds - nothing like Hull KR away.

Thanks for the updates. Please keep them coming. We're due to leave Wigan at 12:30 tomorrow so any information would be greatly appreciated.

According to BBC weather there's snow from 11pm until 5 am.
Though half the time they get it wrong.
Not snowing here at the min.
