Re: springer
He did well.
Needs more minutes on the field though.
Was running it in hard.

Agree. Jerry ran hard and straight up the middle and caused stress.
He's got what it takes - just needs to get a bit angry sometimes.

I'm not a big fan of gadwin last couple of seasons'. But he didn't do anything wrong this game, took ball up hard. Worth another shot against hull

Re: springer
The most frustrating this about Gadwin is, we all know what he can do. I was watching the Cas vs Wakey game from the 2016 super 8's game when he made a 50 yard break and creamed Arona with a big hit.
Thought last nights albeit brief appearance was one of his better showings. With the props we have now (Watts, Millo, Jesse, Massey & Junior) they all seem to have decent motors on them and can do big minutes. I'd be happy to play Gadwin like Wigan did Paleaaesina, big 15 minutes to bash their big guys about whilst our forward take a breather.

No complaints about him on last nights showing. Needs to show this more consistently.

Re: springer
Springer did well and should have got a bit more time out there. He is never going to build up his stamina when he doesn't get on for long.
Gadwin would probably benefit from a few weeks with Fax playing longer minutes.

Re: springer
Gadwin only seems to play short stints he will have been lucky to have done 80 minutes over his last 10 games, last night I thought he put in a good shift in the short time he was on the pitch, I agree to get his fitness levels up the lad needs more game time, some one said he ought to go out to Halifax on loan talking to an Halifax fan at the Normy match today he was full of praise for James Green who is ripping it up in that division
Re: springer
Gadwin is such a frustration. For me, he could be the cornerstone of our pack! He’s got everything he needs, he can offload, and pass well for a big guy.
Hopefully this will be the springboard (see what I did there) to push him on.
When he’s having a bad game he looks lazy, struggles to get set at marker etc etc. I think he goes into his shell and sulks within himself. Hopefully he’s maturing, and his enigmatic approach has finally been worked out by the coaching team.
If he’s not in the 17 for the next game I’d be very disappointed. If he had Matt cooks approach he’d be more effective than cooky himself. I hope he comes good.
Incidentally what did we pay for him? Was it £10k?

It's all about his "engine", in today's common parlance. Seems to run out of juice quickly.

Re: springer
Is that because he never gets much game time and therefore never gets chance to build up his match fitness?cogito ergo sum wrote:It's all about his "engine", in today's common parlance. Seems to run out of juice quickly.
Re: springer
Good point actually. I’d just taken it for granted all our guys are fully fit and within set targets etc.
Perhaps this is why he’s not used more often rather than his ability or attitude?
Then again, when he’s having a bad game his body language looks all wrong as soon as he gets on....
I personally think he’ll leave at some point in 2018 but that’s just my guess,

Re: springer
Just a thought, do our forwards lack any direction from the half-back dominated coaches we have at Cas?
Players like Millington/Cook/Moors & co already have the skillset for the front row but do we have the opportunity to work on the 'younger', less experienced front rowers?

Re: springer
We have Andy lynch and the other older forwards to copy. It's that simple, just have the desire and will to compete they should already have the fitness.lurcher wrote:I think watts said he was already learning new things from millo.Flat Capper wrote:Just a thought, do our forwards lack any direction from the half-back dominated coaches we have at Cas?
