4 tough matches in May

Post by stuey » 03 May 2018, 17:29

How many can we realistically expect to win? I will settle for 2 of them, all 4 would be a miracle, but could lose all of them.

Hull was ordinary v Catalans.
Kelly will be a big miss as will gale for us.
I’m expecting a win.
Saints in cup expecting a loss.
Leeds at Newcastle like to think we will get the win.
So out of 3 I’m expecting 2 wins.

I would like to win Saints in the Cup and Leeds in Newcastle. If we won them I would take losses in the others.

Magic and the cup game, the other two are a bonus

A very tough period where we will have to up our game and defend really well to get anything at all, especially with our attack being so dire.
This block of games will shape our season that is for sure.

Realistically we NEED to beat Hull, Leeds and Wire, the 3 teams that are either just above us or just below us. It looks like its going to be us 4 teams battling it out for the last 2 play off places IMO. Saints and Wigan looking very good for 1st and 2nd. The Saints game cup and league for me don't really matter, as long as we pick up points from the 3 mentioned teams.

our pack now we have Watts is as good if not better than any of the four we have to play, our backs on the other hand seem to stutter and start, we have Gale on the injury list but apart from his goal kicking he as hardly set the world on fire, he as not been a patch on the form he was in last year, if I had to pick one match that I would love us to win it would have to be Saints in the cup , got our tickets today

Still think we are underestimating just how good our pack is. The backs are still getting sorted but the addition of Watts was a master stroke IMO. Just hope I’m not regretting saying that at7pm!

Our forwards are as good as any. However we are extremely short on backs. Playing without a reconised full back is what worrys me. These teams will exploit the confusion caused by this. Could be 0 out of 4 for me

Webster now injured as well. Agree it could well be 0 from 4 this month.

Defo no points in May. In fact probably get nothing until Hull KR games.

Today sounds like a write off at ht. First game I have missed since Catalans away last year. Sounds awful.
However, Leeds are definitely beatable. One of the Saints games wouldn't surprise me either.
Need Millo and Watts to be fit though otherwise the chances drop drastically.

Well that's the first one I got right. Lets see what happens next week. Disheartened this year with some decisions by the club.

It wasn’t awful. We made them sweat in the second half. Read what Powell had to say

No good making them sweat and not put points on the board.
Powell was more disillusioned with the ref first half, ready critised him.
He was pretty up beat about the second half though.
But 36 point let in, our defence must have been soft.

On defence, I am waiting to see Manu’s try to start the scoring again. He ran in seemingly untouched. I’m not sure if this was one that Powell was talking about in terms of running lines. A number of others came from kicks where we just didn’t seem to compete although one seemed to come as a result of our defender being pushed out of the way. Hull certainly targeted Trueman.
