Re: The Right Hand Side Debate
Too soon to write Egodo off but I see him more as a McGillvary type winger than centre. Don’t think he has the height in terms of stature for centre.
In the spirit of the final Blackadder episode - Goooodbyeee!

One thing for sure whoever dp puts on that edge next Sunday will have everything coming down there side at them

Re: The Right Hand Side Debate
Would go with the Foster at centre Minikin on the wing combo,Foster over Clare defensively anytime. While I would take a risk against Salford and take out Rankin for Aston, needs a chance to prove himself and his kicking game infinitely superior to Rankins from hand and from the tee.
Re: The Right Hand Side Debate
???? Infinitely? The week before he kicked 2 from touch and found ground all game from clever kicks from hand. Rankin is doing fine, get Foz and Mcmeeken beside him and we will be dangerous down both flanks.Hepworth7 wrote:Would go with the Foster at centre Minikin on the wing combo,Foster over Clare defensively anytime. Re: The Right Hand Side Debate
I would go Egodo and Minikin for a few games. We tried Clare even though he isn't SL standard. Would rather give Egodo a try before bringing someone in. Clare has never been up to scratch - not a dig, just reality. We should see what Egodo has to offer, hopefully his size would shore up that right hand side.

Re: The Right Hand Side Debate
If we had all ten injured players fit would that change the right side pairing of Minikin and Clare? I think not, can’t blame injuries for a weak right side when the injuries are mainly forwards.

The only change would be Mcmeeken for clarkson.Lofthouse Tiger wrote:If we had all ten injured players fit would that change the right side pairing of Minikin and Clare? I think not, can’t blame injuries for a weak right side when the injuries are mainly forwards.
Doubt that would make much difference.
Re: The Right Hand Side Debate
worse thing about it we have known since end off last season we needed to fetch a centre in . All them who said we had enough cover and minkin and Claire was are answer most have changed there mind . A few tinted glasses are still insisting it will still work , not against the top teams my friends . Not sure what the answer is with out loaning or signing some more personnel . Got a feeling he will go with minikin and Claire against Salford 8-[ 8-[Lofthouse Tiger wrote:If we had all ten injured players fit would that change the right side pairing of Minikin and Clare? Re: The Right Hand Side Debate
Having watched the Leeds preseason friendly fosters stint at centre v Hurrell was enough to convince me he can do a job there.so foster to centre and minikin to wing for me
Re: The Right Hand Side Debate
That's what I would like to see too. would fancy our defensive chances a lot more with Foster / Minikin there.Scoopage wrote:Having watched the Leeds preseason friendly fosters stint at centre v Hurrell was enough to convince me he can do a job there.so foster to centre and minikin to wing for me
After now having a few weeks to watch other teams and ours it is encouraging to see that we are just one player off having a very very good team, that I would fancy against anyone in the comp. (That's not to say we don't have very good team as it is, but just need that one last piece)
Re: The Right Hand Side Debate
That one last piece and a fully fit luke gale would be scary
Re: The Right Hand Side Debate
Foster at centre and Minikin outside him i agree.Mysterio wrote:I’ll tell you this whilst we’re at it, egodo is never going to be SL level imo.
For now, it’s a no brainer.
Foster at centre; Minikin outside him.
Gelling or equivalent quality in ASAP.
JSL and Clarkson at 2nd row both can do 80mins it seems
Holmes, Milner, Cook, a other.
Mill back week after so he would start and moors to bench
Re: The Right Hand Side Debate
Does anyone else think Oggy Holmes would be a better fit as a middle with Jessie staying wide left. As much as Oggy is a solid and reliable player I just don’t think he has the flair to play wide and plays often stop when they get to him, in the same way I feel JSL is wasted in the middle. I think swapping them over would be an solution. Oggys very solid defence and graft would be welcome.
Re: The Right Hand Side Debate
Am not saying Aston is the better player but however many question marks you put,he has kicked more goals at a higher percentage than Rankin, plus more 40/20's and has better touch finding distance. Which in my humble opinion would make him a better kicker. As for being a better player, who knows till you're given a shot, but with Rankins average metres gained not being in the top ten for Cas he's hardly setting the world alight. So yep would give Aston his shot.Dixie D wrote:???? Infinitely? The week before he kicked 2 from touch and found ground all game from clever kicks from hand. Re: The Right Hand Side Debate
I’ve always thought oggy is just a little too short in the big areas of the big players, and always will be..

Re: The Right Hand Side Debate
Oliver Holmes ball skills let him down unfortunately and he isn’t a very good passer of the ball

I have to agree with this. He gives his all but at times last season he got the ball out wide last season and took the wrong options.Tigersbarmy wrote:Oliver Holmes ball skills let him down unfortunately and he isn’t a very good passer of the ball
Re: The Right Hand Side Debate
Oliver was good enough to go on tour with the knights last season, for me the lad is one of the best second rowers in our league I and for one welcome his return.
