Club Clamp Down on Ticketing Abuse

Seems like a minority think that the way to build a great team is to try and not give money to the club.

Re: Club Clamp Down on Ticketing Abuse
Anorher reason why we need a new stadium - modern stadium gates means the club can issue proper season cards that get scanned on entry, and can be used once per game. Helps prevent this kind of fraud.
Re: Club Clamp Down on Ticketing Abuse
Last season I had a woman behind me moaning that she was having to pay standing order now or card would be blocked.
Re: Club Clamp Down on Ticketing Abuse
Beggars belief, to be honest.
I understand that the smart cards came in, so they could be instantly banned from the system - as previously, people were cancelling their direct debits as soon as they received the season ticket books.
Fair reflection on an unhealthy, growing proportion of modern society, unfortunately; people wanting it all, for nothing, and making it "someone else's problem"

Don't understand how the same card can be used multiple times for one match? Do people sneak it back outside through the fence?
You'd think that the software would show that it had been used once for a match and would trigger some form of warning if it was tried a second time.
Or better still, the card would self-combust if it was used a second time....come on you IT experts, work it out.

I know times are hard, but trying to get in with last years season ticket is madness.
Re: Club Clamp Down on Ticketing Abuse
the barcode is just a number. A central database should be able to determine if a number has passed through the gates on a matchday... assuming the network isn't a notwork

Re: Club Clamp Down on Ticketing Abuse
People who attempt this are no fans of the club in my opinion. Ban em for life and send the police round to the address registered to the card, its fraud. As far as the Wigan fans mentioned above, you can't expect anything else from them. Their club sets the example of being cheats so the fans follow suit.

I was thinking the same, must be happening at the training pitch side. Maybe next year we should have season cards with a picture on them?. Guess this would be down to cost.cogito ergo sum wrote:Don't understand how the same card can be used multiple times for one match? Do people sneak it back outside through the fence?

I'm no expert on card fraud but one thing I do know is that criminals are always one step ahead of the authorities. To beat them, you have to think like them.
Anyway, find 'em, ban 'em. End of.

Re: Club Clamp Down on Ticketing Abuse
So all the above about scanning the tickets, they do, on a handheld device, upon scanning the screen turns green and they let you in. This even occurs on the training pitch side and even at the open gate that is used by those people that are less mobile / have disabilities.
They’ve clearly caught people trying it on, doesn’t mean they’ve got away with it. Think the IT is working, they are catching people it’s just causing bother with the queues so they’ve made a statement so people know they won’t get away with it.
Good idea with the queues and gate sizes we have seen so far this year!

A few seasons ago, when JJ was the coach, a bloke was photo-copying tickets for fun. Glad that was stamped on, but not before he had made a killing money wise.

Re: Club Clamp Down on Ticketing Abuse
Reads to me as if a few people have been trying it and got caught. More a warning to others not to try it I guess.
