Season over

Post by stuey » 11 May 2019, 09:53

Nothing to play for now. We are not going to make the top 5,and we are not going to get relegated (as poor as we are) as London will not get 14 points all season.

15 "dead" pointless matches for us now till the end of the season, along with 4 or 5 other clubs who have no chance of going down and have no chance of the top 5. Crowds at all those clubs will be massively down!!

RL -- what have you done getting rid of the top 8 and bottom 4, when all clubs had something to play for all season.

Far too early to write this season off.

We are in a hole but it only takes 1 win for us to get back on the horse again and we have plenty of favourable fixtures over the next few months to keep us in the mix.

We have to find a settled 17 from somewhere and the club have to hear Powell’s calls saying the players he’s got aren’t good enough. There’s a clear message to Wells/BoD to free up some cash to go out and get a few more bodies in, in my eyes. And if not, then they should definitely open their own eyes and see what’s happening before it’s too late.

Yeah - we have to play London twice. And Hull KR. And Salford. And Hudds. And Leeds.

What happens now isn’t going to reflect what can happen in July, August and September? All it takes is a good run of form and everything changes.

Rather get our bad form out now then peak towards the end than limp out at the end.

It`s great from a Cas point of view, there are no middle eights, but from an overall picture, it`s bad for RL and teams having competitive matches once the cup exit comes. However, it gives us the opportunity to try out some new combinations and players in different positions to see if there is any improvement.

And your confidence in winning any of those games is based on what, exactly? We are regressing at an alarming rate.

The fact we have beaten London, Salford and Hull KR already with this team pretty much? The fact we came within a gnats testicle of beating Leeds and Hudds last time out.

Since 2017, Warrington and especially Saints have strengthened year on year. No free signings to make up numbers, they've identified their targets and gone and got them, they are miles above everyone right now. Even if we do beat London, KR, Salford, Leeds etc, when it comes to the end of season knock outs, we will still be no closer to these 2.

Again, this isn't about injuries, this is about not building.

That’s rubbish am sorry everyone entitled to a opinion
But Powell identifies the players he wants so some blame lays at his door
Where do we get the players from then if we free up some cap space? Because there not a lot of talent available this time of year

I’m not saying there isn’t. But not every signing will work out the way he planned or hoped. Not every player will meet the high standards the coach sets.

But the fact is that Powell is having to put out a battered squad every week and we have just sat and watched and hoped for the best.

I’m not sure who is available but we have shown we are willing to pay fees to get decent players in. So perhaps it’s time to start making some tentative approaches.

Cas are playing poorly but we will still be in the 5. Hull will drop 16 men prior to the next round and take bi-weekly hammerings. Wigan are poor and Wakefield, well, we seem to ha e the hoodoo

The majority of super league have the same battered squads so the injury excuse we have been hiding behind is not good enough, the fact we don’t produce anything different in attack as we have been found out is the problem as well as the fragile goal line defence as well needs addressing

I agree I don’t think the season is far from over it’s only may, but the way we are playing at moment doesn’t fill anyone with encouragement

As mentioned other teams are experiencing an injury crisis.
Wakefield are similar to us with numbers out.
However, their attitude is to roll their selves up and play a structured way to win games and entertain their fans.
Plus the fact they are no where near the salary cap in spending.
Currently, we are in a mess and with no fix on the horizon, perhaps this season will a time to blood these young kids we have and they can be the future of Classy Cas.

Put Danny Brough in our team and it improves tenfold

Not convinced they don't spend near the cap either, despite what Carter comes out with

But yes, their attitude is hell of a lot better than ours atm that's for sure

Wakie are still entertaining even without their 2 star half backs in Brough and Miller whilst we look totally void of ideas
