Bang on. When we were struggling in the league we at least had Rangi to entertain us, the last 2 seasons the players just don't look like they are enjoying their rugby, maybe they are also hung up from the 2017 season.derbystiger wrote:It’s disappointing for me the style of rugby we have been playing. I don’t think I’ve ever been so bored at some Cas games as I have been this season. To lose having a dig, throwing the ball about and trying to do something I can handle no problem. To lose not trying anything and playing one up rugby I can’t handle so much. You are bang on, we’re not glory supporters, but we normally have some kind of entertainment for our money. This season has been severely lacking in that department.HuddsTigers wrote:Is that disappointing vs 2017, which many are still hung up on 2 years later? Or is it disappointing because we're 5th? Or is it disappointing compared to say 2008 when we finished bottom? There's got to be some realism.
We're not glory supporters - at least I've never had the perception that Cas fans are. We're always used to being the underdogs and for me finishing 4th or competing for it is an achievement for us. Sure we'd all like to do better, make finals every year - but we can only do that if fans keep turning up and supporting the team instead of dropping the club at a hat.
The club have said for us to use marquee players we need to average 9000. How can we do that when only 5k turn up for a game like London but yet 8500 come out for Leeds/Wakey.

I'm talking about our own fanbase, not away fans.yorky wrote:could be something to do with the stupid kickoff time & the fact that london dont bring many supporters with them. How can we do that when only 5k turn up for a game like London but yet 8500 come out for Leeds/Wakey.
We have a loyal core fanbase but I'd question the wider town support who only seem to come out for big games every season.

School holidays? Evening time? Weekend? Leeds Utd played at lunch time so no clashes with football.yorky wrote:your still not accepting the stupid kickoff time could be part of the problem? We have a loyal core fanbase but I'd question the wider town support who only seem to come out for big games every season.
And the fact we play at 7:45pm on Thurs/Fri. So no, I think it has little bearing or relevance to be honest.

a lot of people came back watching the team in 2017 theve stopped coming again i know a lot like that shame we couldnt kick on but yeah with decent away following you would always get 6,000 -6,500 down lane come what may

I think if it could be guaranteed a Friday night or Sunday KO , attendance would be a lot higher.HuddsTigers wrote:School holidays? Evening time? Weekend? Fans of all clubs can then plan their days out, unfortunately, some have families to work around, who aren't all fans of the game, and you have to do right to keep a happy brood.

Re: Huddersfield Away
if getting 9000 average crowds means we can go down the marquee route, then why did we sign bang average players after 2017 when wasn't our average around the 9000 mark ?. seems to me the club always blames the supporters rather than look at there own performance.
Re: Huddersfield Away

Out of necessity I have to plan my trips as I don't live half an hour away so it's fair to say I cherry pick the fixtures and to be honest games against the top four or five and/or local derbies will always attract me more than say London or Catalan and I'm sure it's like that for other folk. But I'm lucky i make those decisions based on logistical reasons while for others the budget might not stretch to a game every other week

Back on topic Cas by 4pts in a tight one.

In my job I talk to hundreds of cas fans who are so disappointed with cas they have stopped going to games, even those who have had season tickets for last 2 years. I for one haven't been this year.tigerfeat wrote:a lot of people came back watching the team in 2017 theve stopped coming again i know a lot like that shame we couldnt kick on but yeah with decent away following you would always get 6,000 -6,500 down lane come what may

I agree with all statements. But at the end of the day it's either in your blood or it ain't. I've been a cas fan for over 50 years so yes it's in my DNA . Coyf

This I think sums up were we went wrong should off kicked on after 2017 but decided to waist money. On players who was not up to super league standard. I don't agree with hudds tiger that cas fans should not expect to be challenge in for top honours negative attitude and small club mentality good post :dance:classycas57 wrote:I agreegreenhouse wrote:if getting 9000 average crowds means we can go down the marquee route, then why did we sign bang average players after 2017 when wasn't our average around the 9000 mark ?. seems to me the club always blames the supporters rather than look at there own performance.

Agreed.
If people cant show up on a Saturday evening during the school holidays then they're never showing up.
There's basically shift workers who can't make that, and they'll struggle no matter what.

We can spend on a marquee If we plan it into the business modelHuddsTigers wrote:It isn't realistic to expect an improvement from 3 when Saints, Wire, Wigan, Hull, Catalans can all spend more than us and on marquee players.heritage1926 wrote:We finished 3rd last year, 5th is probably the highest we can finish with the games we have coming up. My own personal expectations are that we should be aiming for 4th every season with the aim of knocking out one of the above.
The season has been inconsistent - not disappointing, though I guess you can be disappointed by inconsistency. But that's the same for every side - look at the league. Barring Saints every other side has lost games in double digits.

I'd love a marquee player but he'd have to be a bit special. A genuine contender for man of Steel and someone who'd put bums on seats. But they generally don't come over now a days.
Sonny bill is going to Toronto and he'd do. But can we afford a million pound a season because that's the sort of money you'd need to pay.

Re: Huddersfield Away
Interesting I’ve just been reading that the average British worker is earning just 21k a year, they added in the cost of living and all bills and on average it left £58 a week to spend on luxuries. That wouldn’t pay a family into watch a game. I’ve been saying it for a while we are a working class town and it is becoming harder and harder for families to stump up the cash to get to games. The club as to balance its books but it cannot be reliant on supporters coming through the gates has I can only see gates falling as the price continues to go up.Squaddie86 wrote:HuddsTigers wrote:School holidays?
