Yep pretty much my thoughts on him. One of his better attributes is his goal kicking too - which we don't need.Bengal wrote:Same here, he's just an 'alright' player for me and although I wouldn't sniff my nose up at him, I wouldn't exactly be over enamoured either.KB80 wrote:A lot seem to rate Mantellato. Although Mcgilivary or Johnston would be great signings

Re: New signing
We need a winger who can help get us on the front foot coming out of our own 10-30 meters which for all his try scoring ability Solomona has never provided

This is a key area for the modern winger
I too don't see what the fuss is about with Mantellato. Steady away, average at best

He jumps up in the air like the jester that was at sale yesterday

Don't rate mantomato. Do rate Sio.
Where's the suggestion come from about a new signing?

Re: New signing
I wouldn't mind is giving youth a chance on the wing, or go with what we have in Eden, Monaghan and Hitchcock (if fit to play)
Long live the Tigers!!!
Re: New signing
We defo need to replace DS with a strike winger.

After what was said about carney on here it supposes me people want him back. I think his defence is too weak personally.

Re: New signing
Solomona is still contracted to the club.
His wages still count on our salary cap.
He still takes up a non-federation trained place.
We have not got a transfer fee to spend.
So, basically - if anyone knows someone British and free, message Steve Gill.

Re: New signing
I'm happy with what we already have, Eden on wing and Zac at fullback. If we can get someone else in then fantastic, but it's not the end of the world if we don't, I think we have cover to start the season with. Has Flynn got a club yet? Not a strike winger but cheap, already knows the club and don't have to worry about quota's etc.. Then look at somebody else later on, if needed, when the whole DS saga has concluded. Having said that, if Sio or McGilvary became options then happy days. Not sure about JC, don't know if I could handle him drifting in off his wing in defence again and his customary knock ons bringing the ball back, but his positives maybe outweigh the negatives? I rate Johnson at Wakey, but with his potential I can see similar problems for Wakey ahead with bigger clubs coming in for him if he has another good year, so would stay clear. What I do know 100% is that, if everything turns out to be true about DS, I don't want to see him anywhere near Cas again.

Re: New signing
I wonder if we would have let crooks go if the club knew this was going to happen with Solomona
Re: New signing
Already posted this so apologies, might be on this or one of the other threads. Sio has joined Newcastle so we won't be getting him. I agree though would have been a good signing, shame Solomona didn't show his colours earlier

Re: New signing
Seeing as Solomona is still contracted, it would had no bearing on this.old cas lass wrote:I wonder if we would have let crooks go if the club knew this was going to happen with Solomona
We have swapped Crooks for Hardaker and Solomona is still on our books.

Re: New signing
Solomona is suspended. His wages are not going to be paid, and to this end, we need to approach the RFL right now to gain dispensation in the circumstances to have him taken off our cap.HuddsTigers wrote:Seeing as Solomona is still contracted, it would had no bearing on this.old cas lass wrote:I wonder if we would have let crooks go if the club knew this was going to happen with Solomona

Re: New signing
Not what I was told the other night.
You can suspend someone but I would assume that rugby league contract indicate you can't stop paying a player until you have reasonable grounds to do so (e.g. following an internal investigation and hearing and subsequent action).
At this moment, he still counts on our cap, he still counts on our non-fed quota and we can't do anything until the matter is resolved.

I would have said same until the problem has come to a conclusion the club will have to pay the contract or we would then be opening a door of failing to meet the contract aswellHuddsTigers wrote:Not what I was told the other night.

Re: New signing
hudds tigeris correct what he says.icant see any one from the club even talking about this now
they have put it the hands of the clubs lawyers so i think it best we just let them get on with it and wait for any statements from the club

Re: New signing
That wouldn't take long though would it, as an example, if a player was reported to be drinking and fighting prior to a game and there were witnesses then I'd have thought the club would bring him in, hear his side of the story, show him statements against him then consequently suspend/sack him, breaching his contract. From the limited info I've read he's wanted out, been Tweeting pictures of Sale players, shouldn't he have been back at training this week?HuddsTigers wrote:Not what I was told the other night.
