Josh Mantellato
Re: Josh Mantellato
He can finish a try. Would be cheap. When Denny officially leaves that would be 5 outside backs hone from last year I think we are planning on bringing 2 in.

Re: Josh Mantellato
I see Montellato and Monaghan as the same.
My preference would be get rid of Solomona, total disrespect for the club. Then in the following order make signings:
1) McGillvary.
2) Use youth we already have.
3) Johnstone.
I wouldn't be looking at Montellato.

Mantellato is a cart house. Would love to have Carney back tbh... but just a case of if he'd want to come/if the players would accept him.

Re: Josh Mantellato
I don't know where this has come from about McGillvary.
Yes - we would all like to sign the England winger but is there any evidence that a) he wants to leave Hudds and b) Hudds are willing to let him go ? I just cannot see this realistically happening at all. If he was up for leaving Hudds - most SL clubs would be in the hunt for his signature.

No to Mantellato from me.
When DS does leave, we should be looking at Carney, Johnston, McGilvary or Lineham (even if we have to pay a fee for any of them)....unless DP is wanting to give Robson the opportunity.

I hadn't heard anything before posting a Tweet saying we'd sign him to [REMOVED] of Hudds fans. Saw it popping up more since then - so eitherTigerade wrote:I don't know where this has come from about McGillvary.
a) I started it
b) I'm inconsequential and it was already a thing anyway and people are, by and large, silly.
I suspect B.
Would love him at Cas regardless.
Regarding Matellato - he has days where he's total quality, but he has lazy spells in almost every match he's played. There was a moment in the MPG where he could have provided back-up to a half break by Lunt and had a good opp for a try to win the game for sure - he just arsed about and the opportunity died. That pretty much sums up his negative points in one play for me. I will say that he's a better defender than Denny though, and a decent goal kicker - just not a consistent enough quality.

We can't sign anyone for a transfer fee until the matter with Solomona is resolved and we get a fee for him. We could be talking weeks, months or even years down the line, and even then there's no guarantee that we'll get one.

We can agree a deferred transfer fee though HT, or payment in instalments.HuddsTigers wrote:We can't sign anyone for a transfer fee until the matter with Solomona is resolved and we get a fee for him. For example. I would put my mortgage on us receiving at least £75k for Denny through a tribunal or as result of arbitration etc.
We need to do our business swiftly. I'm positive that DP will have had a shortlist of targets drawn up a long time ago anyway.
Just hope we don't play Zak on the wing as it would be wasting his talent. However, we could line up like this
Roberts
Eden
Shenton
Webster
Hardaker
Chase
Gale
As I see it, we literally have one true winger in Monaghan, and he's not quick enough or agile enough any more, and arguably is more useful in the centre. Robson has been out so long, is a FB anyway, and is vertically challenged to play Wing.
Eden & Hardaker, to me, have been shoe horned onto the wing 'to find a spot for them' or to dump them there at other clubs and aren't out and out specialised Wing Men.
Minikin, again, does not have a future as a winger. He's a centre, and it's obvious. Milner isn't either, nor is Roberts whom is our utility player.
I'd settle for one extra winger, but in reality we need 2 I think.
However, one thing is for certain...we need to sign one. Now.
I'm sure there's one out there!! We need to be asking our connections in Aus. Vowlesy, etc.

Re: Josh Mantellato
For what it's worth, as I see it:
* McG isn't available although it may be worth asking Shudds or asking him to retire!
* Lineham's position looked in doubt at various points last season but he put The Wire in the Grand Final so similar to McG
* Johnson won't go anywhere for a while unless the above options pay off
* Carney is unlikely to receive DP's approval
However, in spite of all this we continue to release members of our back line which perhaps suggests something may be happening.
