So what do you think about it? If I am honest, I dont think is of that much use to us. We have lost Lynch, Patrick and apparently Hardaker so I wouldnt have signed a half back

I think 2 years would be better.
If he’s a stop gap for hardacre, Roberts to full back.
Hopefully Zak will be back in 2yrs.
A couple of props are most defiantly our priority.

2 years away from sport in Britain is not going to do Hardaker any favours. We need to forget him now imo.old cas lass wrote:LeagueLeaders wrote:So what do you think about it? Roberts to full back?

I agree, why stand still and wait for a player to return.RonnieGibbs'forearm wrote:2 years away from sport in Britain is not going to do Hardaker any favours. Cut our losses and bring in a top draw fullback.
We must have some healthy cap space to sign 2 props and a world class fullback, fill the rest with youth.
I would rather have kept tom holmes than bring Ellis in on a 3 year deal, hope he's on minimum wage because if not his wage could be the difference between a good fullback and a world class fullback
Re: Jamie Ellis has signed on
Read that when DP and DO are in Aus that they will be looking for a fullback hope it’s correct
Re: Jamie Ellis has signed on
I don't often display a lack of enthusiasm on new signings, but to me, this smacks of desperation - somewhere along the line - and feels like id have imagined Saints fans to feel when they signed Tommy Lee!
It does make you wonder if he's coming in to replace someone....because lets face it, he is NOT anywhere near the quality of Gale, Roberts or, in what we had prior; Chase.
Perhaps he'd be decent from the bench. We used to spell him with Dazzy Clark. Maybe we'll do it with Macca. Hooker is the ONLY position I think he might have potential in him still that I've missed.
Still, in DP we implicitly trust.

Roberts, clearly, to full back :
Speaking today Tigers head coach Daryl Powell said: “I’m delighted to add Jamie Ellis to our squad for next season. He left the club a few years ago and I wanted to retain him then, his game has matured significantly since his last time at Castleford and I am confident he will be outstanding for us alongside Luke Gale and give us a great combination at half back. He has many attributes to his game, his passing ability and running games alongside a very long kicking ability will add-to our armoury for 2018.”

I am happy with this. Was always a fan of Ellis and he is a class character on and off the field.
Let's face it, nobody is Rangi Chase, but we can do without the off-field drama now and sort out a stable team.

Re: Jamie Ellis has signed on
Is this the same Jamie Ellis who Powell over looked at half back and preffered Finn and Sneyd and only used to get a game off the bench as an interchange hooker?

That's exactly how it was pal.Sharlotiger wrote:Is this the same Jamie Ellis who Powell over looked at half back and preffered Finn and Sneyd and only used to get a game off the bench as an interchange hooker?

Re: Jamie Ellis has signed on
Yeah. I dont feel he will disappoint but I feel like he wont be very impressive either. We have won the league, got to the final and have a few players in the world cup squads. Now we need to keep improving and picking up better players is a huge part of that. I just feel like, unless Powell brings something great out of him, he wont really improve our team. Just think, he plays the same positions as Tom Holmes and Jake Trueman, would you really pick him over them?Binman7000 wrote:Faith in Powell!
