Re: Niall Evalds
I’m not as impressed with him as some on here.decent player and quick but not sure he has the passing game for us but then again a lot of people said that about Zak
Re: Niall Evalds
Similar to Eden imo at back maybe Powell can be the one to take him to next level

Re: Niall Evalds
Rumours on “love rugby league” he’s our number one target for the fullback role but I don’t see how we can get the funds to buy him. To be honest I don’t know how we’ve got the funds to buy Liam Watts there must be more than we all think we’ve got at the club.

Re: Niall Evalds
Also if we sign him, the squads better than last year IMO. More strength in depth and a better starting line up when everyone is fit. Are we finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel after the Hardaker situation

Re: Niall Evalds
If you look at the meet the directors thread you'll see that crowds were up, hospitality was up, beer sales were up etc. Plus the prize money for LLS.MrRugby123 wrote:Rumours on “love rugby league” he’s our number one target for the fullback role but I don’t see how we can get the funds to buy him. Transfer fees are not really the issue, the salary cap is.
Now that ZH is off the cap there's probably money to bring in 2 decent players, Watts is one, someone like Evalds could be the other, particularly if we can offload one of our smaller earners such as Jy or Lo.

Re: Niall Evalds
Niall has got a bright future and the best place to learn his trade is in side such as Castleford. No player will want to play for Salford at the moment, knowing that there futures are all at risk so maybe we should get him while we can. Seems like there trying to offload a few players so we could get him cheaper than his value is. Nothing against Ben Roberts but a specialist fullback is what we need, someone Young and has nearly 100 appearances for Salford so he knows what super league is all about.
Re: Niall Evalds
My guess, Cas got £250K for Solomona, shelled out £150K for Hardaker, the other £100 on Watts.
Re: Niall Evalds
We made an unexpected 150k in price money too (less bonuses), largely cancels out the Hardaker outlay.JIN JER wrote:My guess, Cas got £250K for Solomona, shelled out £150K for Hardaker, the other £100 on Watts.
With this in mind our recruitment was very underwhelming, in hindsight, it seems to have been more a case of players not been available then a reluctance to spend!

Re: Niall Evalds
I think you'll find that our low-budget recruitment was due to the uncertainty of Zak's large wage on the salary cap. Now that he's off there's money to spend. IMO the club have gone about this in the only way that they could having already signed Wardle before Mr Hardaker's actions spoilt everything.

Re: Niall Evalds
I could see Watts being higher than 100k because we have” payed a large fee” for him but who knows what a large fee for a top player nowadays is.Hopefully this is the start of great recruitment for the 2018 season. I’m excited to see Wardle play, think he’s something different to the other 2nd rowers we’ve gotJIN JER wrote:My guess, Cas got £250K for Solomona, shelled out £150K for Hardaker, the other £100 on Watts.

Re: Niall Evalds
Crowds up 30%JIN JER wrote:My guess, Cas got £250K for Solomona, shelled out £150K for Hardaker, the other £100 on Watts.
Advertising revenue up 30%
Bar sales up 60%
And no rent to pay.
My guess is that we can afford a substantial transfer fee every year, the problem is getting good players into the salary cap without losing the ones we want to keep and maintaining a large enough squad.
Something that Wakefield have done very well this year tbf.
Re: Niall Evalds
In Wardle and Watts (Mcshane and Milner too tbf) we certainly havery some aggresion in the forwards.MrRugby123 wrote:I could see Watts being higher than 100k because we have” payed a large fee” for him but who knows what a large fee for a top player nowadays is.Hopefully this is the start of great recruitment for the 2018 season. Re: Niall Evalds
Anyone see Jon Wells' reaction to the question about Evalds posed by Brian Carney on RL backchat? He took the credit for signing Watts and then stuttered quite badly when asked about Evalds...so it might have some legs in it
Re: Niall Evalds
From how he reacted to the question I would say there has been talks about it but nothing concrete. Why wouldn't we be interested. The lad is young and good.
Re: Niall Evalds
Was given the opportunity to confirm or deny the rumour, and chose to skirt around the question, did not out right deny - which (imo) gives more credence to the rumour.
