Wardle & Mamo

Post by Est.1926 » 14 May 2018, 10:16

rumour coming out of Huddersfield that we are linked with signing Jake Wardle (Centre) & Jake Mamo (Fullback). would be happy both of them if true.

Wardle is a real prospect. Better than his brother was at the same age.
Mamo I’d be dubious about. He’s injury prone and not really played well since the first few games after joining Huddersfield. Dodgy hair too.
I’d also be looking to take Ollie Russell from them.

I'd be happy with them however we are only in need of a fullback as an emergency .

We need a centre? Seriously?

We have a centre on the wing in minikin.
We have a centre playing fullback in shenny.
We have Wardle and Webster playing centre.

We need a fullback this season urgently.

We know but we aint going to get one.

2019 we either need to get Zak back or buy a proper one. Suspect this year will be top 8 and if we make top 4 its a bonus.

I agree. I thought this year we could go one better and win a cup. I think we can make the top 4 as a few above us can go deep in to the challenge cup which won't help them.

I think we should tough it out this year and give youth a go once we are safe in the top 8. 21 points should do it, we have Leeds twice!

Get a top fullback next year.

I think he misread your post to be saying that you thought we only needed a full back in the event of an emergency, rather than it's it's an emergency that we need a full back

Jake Mamo is a great asset to have, not only on the field but in the dressing rooms as well. First hand knowledge from a Giants player.

The problem is that he spends more time in the dressing room than on the pitch as he’s never fit to play

mamo comes up with some great attacking plays but I've seen games where he's been shocking in defence where he makes benny look like a world beater.

Rather give Turner a go a FB. Let see what the lad can do. After all he is the under 19 England FB so cant be that bad surely.

We need a good review of our backline starting from now onwards,
Good thing is, we have the forwards.
Minikin, Eden and Gale are the only ones rock solid guaranteed a spot in the squad in my opinion. Probably Shenton too.

Major back surgery needed with minimal invasive techniques :D

Totally agree. I’d add Shenton to the rock solids. I’d give Jy another contract for a year and give him a bit more game time. He needs a bit of work under a high ball but apart from that he’s solid. Roberts hopefully will also come back from injury and get back on form - he was class last year when fit.

First post btw

I like Minikin but I feel he's too small for a winger. He's definitely the right centre replacement for Webster though.

Too small for a winger but big enough to be a centre, you'll have to talk me thru that theory.
