I wouldn't be surprised to see Wakey make a bid for Hastings to replace Hampshire

They don't have anywhere near close to enough money to get close to what Hastings will want.

Carter always comes over as a straight down the line guy so after what he as said how confident are you now Mucky that he will be in a Cas shirt next year ?
Cas struggling with cap space so was never going to happen.

Short on cap space for this year, next season it goes up like 200k + there's players leaving the club.

We have also retained players on higher value contracts and signed Mata’utia.

But player contracts are spread over the contracts duration to stop clubs “backloading” the higher portion of an agreement.

Maybe so but it still doesn’t account for say Trueman going from say £15k a year to say £60k a year on average.

We say where nearly up to the cap
Wakey deny having any contact with us ad state he's not for sale

Definitely a case of if enough people say it then it must be true. It ain't happening.

but in league express when speaking about rocky, his agent (spit) says wakey can't fit him under the cap. i thought MC said he wouldn't spend up to the cap unless they had an average attendance of over 6,000 and has the lowest spend in super league.
if MC said it was true what would that do for ST sales, still think it will happen but won't be announced till near the start of season.

He meant in terms of how much cap space Wakefield have within their budget than within the full salary cap :D

the thing is with such as tupou and johnstone they will be happy to pledge their future if the money is ok and wakey end each season a little higher every year and they see a glimpse of silverware and maybe international recognition. if they dip lower than 5th next year the players who are looking for success will be looking elsewhere. worse still if TJ gets called up next year his head will be turned and he'll be away but a good fee will go to wakey.

I said this ages ago on a different thread that when retaining players especially your better ones then obviously they or more appropriately their agents are only going to get them to sign on a much better contract and this is where Carter will struggle to retain their best players when he is running a tight ship and the gates don’t allow it. Looks like they will achieve another good finish this year yet (and Jinjer may be able to accurately answer this) I don’t think their gates have increased that much.

I still think the Tupou thing is just mischief causing though !

If your not getting the crowds you need or deserve id say in wakeys case your going to start to lose your best players unless you've got a chap like him at Huddersfield who just carry on regardless funding his team
