All sounds good to me. The whole obstruction/no obstruction needed to be removed, became a joke when players away from the ball not even close to causing any issues with the defenders would cause the try to be chalked off.

The video ref had too much power and it needs to be reigned in and the changes look to be doing that.

For me, terrible. If the video ability is there check the lot. With this they'll check the grounding but if the ref has missed it before scoring you could have escorted a player of the ball, knocked on at the play of the ball or in the air, been offside, obstructed someone or/and tackled someone in the air.

Only thing i like is the no 'live decision' from the on field ref. But the no more than two looks stinks.

It removes the reliance of the VR which has become way over used. Personally I'd happily have it removed from the game all together as it's not at every match and in quite a few instances wastes time, when the ref and touch judges were in perfect positions to say if it was a try/no try.

I personally def wouldn't want to see it removed altogether, our sport is one of those that needs it. Imagine not having the video ref and Liam Kay's try on Saturday been scored at Old Trafford. Part of the problem lays on the standard of the officials and also the muddyness of some of the rules. If there's cameras at the game, why not check the lot and not just the grounding. Coaches, players and fans are gonna be miffed if tries are scored off of missed fouls and knock ons.

I'm not in any way a fan of yawnion but their system of the ref just asking the video ref 'is there any reason why I cannot give the try' without indicating try or no try on the field is far better than our method. This allows the video ref to review anything that has happened INCLUDING forward passes and seems to take a lot less time than our process.

It seems to me that our video refs take far too long searching for anything and everything, so limiting the number of viewings seems like a good idea to me,

If you read the article properly, you'll see that the two looks thing only applies when the VR is asked whether it's a goal line drop-out or a 20m restart.

No need to be rude. Never stated that the two look rule was anything else. Merely said that I wasn't a fan of it.

For me the only changes that need making are...
1. Get rid of this ludicrous try/no try nonsense. If a ref isn’t sure then he’s guessing.
2. Only check what the ref isn’t sure about. So if he says check the grounding that’s the only thing that is looked at and it’s taken as read that the on field officials are happy with everything else in the build up and if it transpires that a replay shows a player was offside then as fans we just have to suck it up, the refs make mistakes the same as the players do! I’m getting sick & tired of watching the VR where the ref has only asked to check one thing yet we go back and check offside/obstruction/possible knock on. Or as above we use the union ‘is there any reason why I can’t award a try’ method when there has been a potential infringement.
3. HAVE IT AT EVERY GAME OR NONE AT ALL!!!!!

And finally, if the players stopped cheating and trying to milk penalties at every play the ball perhaps the refs job could be made a bit easier and they wouldnt feel the need to keep using the VR to look at other stuff than it was intended for and TV games wouldn’t last over 2 hours!!

Sorry MOL I wasn't intending to be rude.
Why are you so annoyed about the VR only being able to check drop-out/ tap 20 twice?

There's s bigger issue in all of this, SKY and particularly the BBC seem to be miffed at the time it's taking to play an 80 minute game and are exploring ways of reducing stoppages, this being the first.

For me the real reason why games now go 100mins plus is down to the fact that ALL teams are deliberately taking breathers whenever they're defending, so slow to the scrum that the ref has to stop the clock, always someone injured when they have to drop out, players getting strapping adjusted in the middle of play and the physios refusing to move to one side, players staying down in the middle of the offensive line, throwing the ball away after a knock-on etc.

None of this is likely to improve if they cut the interchanges down as has been mooted.

Of course, all of this is adding lumps of time onto the game, and it's very difficult to eradicate. So they're trying to trim a bit off the VR in order to appease the broadcasters.

For me the best thing to come out of this would be making obstruction an on-field call.
