I accept racism has no part in sport, but this above happened. Read into which way you want, but it was found in favour , if that is the right way to describe it, in the way of the people who are deemed to be the offended.fast hands wrote:I am sorry to say racism doesn't work both ways in sport, unfortunately I was involved first hand , when I reported it to the governing body of the area, I was told ,'just forget it'. Re: Justin carney
The referee who reported it is the one that's stopped being a full time official.
I've no idea if justin did say that or not but what I will say having being the victim of a disciplinary once before (even though i had done absolutely nothing) was it's hard to underestimate the impact it has on you and your family. At one stage I even considered just saying I had done it and walking away. I know he was telling people he didn't do it so to suddenly say he did makes you think it might be a case of that.

I wouldnt say justin was the smartest bloke id ever met he knows what was said but like the flat capper said you have to question somebody with his background making a racial comment

I am not going to give an opinion on this incident, I cant and know nothing about it.tigerfeat wrote:I wouldnt say justin was the smartest bloke id ever met he knows what was said but like the flat capper said you have to question somebody with his background making a racial comment
Oddly, assuming I say something to tigerfeat - I think that is OK and so does tigerfeat, that isn't enough anymore.
Offense and the like, in general society is in the ear of the beholder. Particularly in racism and discrimination. It is an area I struggle with.
If I overhear Shenny calling Luke Gale a bald midget and they laugh at each other - I am small and thin of barnet, I know it is an exaggeration, but is my offense and the potential that being short is a disability worthy of sanction to Shenny?
My only point being, it is a complicated area and I am not diminishing racism or the offense, I say up front again, I know nothing of it so wouldn't pass a comment on it, obviously racism is abhorrent, don't misinterpret what I am saying please!

If Massey and JC have buried the hatchet we'd be stupid not to.

simple answer to this is if dp wants him and we can afford him bring him back if not just move on
Re: Justin carney
Is he better than what we have? No
Will he be on the quota? Yes
Is he a risk? Yes
Does he get banned a lot? Yes
Would it be worth paying him to sit in the stands? No
He doesn't bring anything to the party we don't already have. I wish him all the best but I don't think we need him at the club. We are moving forwards not backwards.

How about Minikin to centre ( his real position) Jake to bench spot to cover pack and centres and Carney to wing. Just a thought to spell Jake more.

Re: Justin carney
We need to stay away, with the troubles Rangi has gone through this season we don't need to replace him with another controversial signing.
Doesn't matter if Massey/Carney have put the issue to bed, it could easily come back up again in the future and then we'll have infighting between players.

Minikin is a better winger than Carney
Webster is a better centre than Minikin
Every second rower in the squad is a better second rower than Webster
Why make the team worse in 3 positions to accommodate for one vastly over rated liability?
Quite simply, Cas have moved on and now have much better players likely on less money and don't count on the overseas quota.

Re: Justin carney
Don't necessarily agree.
Minikin has 13 tries in 11 games
Carney scored 21 in 19 games
At the moment, they have a fairly similar strike rate. Carney's biggest issue is defence and suspensions. But I reckon he's stronger in the air than Minikin and better under the high ball too.
I think having someone like Carney in the squad with those qualities would really compliment our back line.
Also, Carney has been over here so long he doesn't count on the quota but is non-fed. With Monaghan going we'll be replacing that like for like in a position we need to.

Re: Justin carney
Sounding like hull KR could be the fore runners for carney.
Re: Justin carney
I wouldn't have Carney back - he made some really bad errors for us carrying the ball back out in some games once a kick had been put through in throwing stupid passes and also losing the ball in the tackle so he is suspect on his play plus I just think we might get the same result as we did with Rangi - trying too hard to re-fit in and achieving little and not the same as we had before anyway. I also think he has been monitored and worked out as just a hard strong runner by most teams anyway and who lacks the guile of footwork to round the defence which is easily negated these days - nothing like for example Ben Roberts who is a strong runner and has footwork with it to get round defences. Think he's lost a bit of pace as well but this is just my opinion on all the above.

Re: Justin carney
Salford Sign James Hansson from Paramatta and let Carney go.
2 of Cas's wonder boys of the past both move to pastures new. What could of been of Carney and Chase if their heads were right.
