Yes, he's been stood down by Salford as a caveat for delaying the hearing.yorky wrote:good point Hudds, i assume he wont be able to play until after the result of the hearing.

Odd that he pleaded guilty to racial abuse but appealed the length of the suspension. Suggests he still doesn't understand the seriousness of the offence.

Re: Justin carney
Well l got that one wrong, loved Justin when he was in a Cas shirt ,but racism has no part in modern society but we would be foolish if we pretended otherwise.
However Rugby League prides itself on it's values and should make a much stronger statement than an eight match ban and a three hundred pounds fine.
It should be Sine Die it now leaves the club with the dilemma if the keep him on they are complicit if they sack they could be liable.
So Justin do the decent thing retire from the game.!

Since he left Tigers - nothing has seemed to go right for JC. I get the impression that he is helping the RFL hound him out of the game. As mentioned above - maybe time to call it quits.

Re: Justin carney
It was interesting watching him pre match when we played them away this year. He warmed up on his own and then joined in when the other players came out to warm up. He them went in and came straight back out with his match shirt on don would have missed the teamtalk. He didn't congratulate their scorers either.
I think he's on self destruct mode. He may need help.

Worst thing he ever did was blow his standing within the Tigers Family. Best place for him and he screwed it up, then downhill from there.Tigerade wrote:Since he left Tigers - nothing has seemed to go right for JC. Re: Justin carney
I'm still curious as to why Salford asked for the hearing to be postponed a week if they knew he was guilty; it only served to cost them another game ban?
Perhaps things are not as clear as a guilty plea would appear and Salford took the time to review their position - could they find an independent witness to clarify what JC actually said? After all, if it was just a case of JC's word against a match official, the panel would never believe the player.
Anyway, the player from an ethnic minority background is now branded a racist.

I accept racism has no part in sport, but this above happened. Read into which way you want, but it was found in favour , if that is the right way to describe it, in the way of the people who are deemed to be the offended.fast hands wrote:I am sorry to say racism doesn't work both ways in sport, unfortunately I was involved first hand , when I reported it to the governing body of the area, I was told ,'just forget it'. Re: Justin carney
The referee who reported it is the one that's stopped being a full time official.
I've no idea if justin did say that or not but what I will say having being the victim of a disciplinary once before (even though i had done absolutely nothing) was it's hard to underestimate the impact it has on you and your family. At one stage I even considered just saying I had done it and walking away. I know he was telling people he didn't do it so to suddenly say he did makes you think it might be a case of that.

I wouldnt say justin was the smartest bloke id ever met he knows what was said but like the flat capper said you have to question somebody with his background making a racial comment

I am not going to give an opinion on this incident, I cant and know nothing about it.tigerfeat wrote:I wouldnt say justin was the smartest bloke id ever met he knows what was said but like the flat capper said you have to question somebody with his background making a racial comment
Oddly, assuming I say something to tigerfeat - I think that is OK and so does tigerfeat, that isn't enough anymore.
Offense and the like, in general society is in the ear of the beholder. Particularly in racism and discrimination. It is an area I struggle with.
If I overhear Shenny calling Luke Gale a bald midget and they laugh at each other - I am small and thin of barnet, I know it is an exaggeration, but is my offense and the potential that being short is a disability worthy of sanction to Shenny?
My only point being, it is a complicated area and I am not diminishing racism or the offense, I say up front again, I know nothing of it so wouldn't pass a comment on it, obviously racism is abhorrent, don't misinterpret what I am saying please!
