Hindsight is such a wonderful thing when you consider Jamie Ellis being brought in and letting Tom go !
Holmes and Trueman could have been the present day Hardisty and Hepworth combination that worked so well in days gone by !

Don’t know how many times we have to say that.the machine wrote:He wanted more game time and we couldn't guarantee itCasRus wrote:Looks like someone has let a player of high calibre potential slip through our fingers here !!

Holmes was behind Gale and Ellis and had competition from Trueman. Ellis was brought in due to Roberts moving to full back. Holmes wasn’t guaranteed time so left for that and possibly a bit more cash. Him leaving allowed Trueman to step up. Now that looks like it has been to our benefit too as Trueman looks like our starting half.

Short Sightedness is what I call it ! Why did they bring Ellis in when Tom needed the game time and had to go get it a Fev !! He'd be flying now for Cas alongside Trueman instead of flying for the Giants ! Ellis, although being a capable player wasn't needed !

Re: Tom Holmes
Ellis would have come in regardless of Holmes going or staying because we like to have 3 halves:
Sneyd, Finn, Ellis, Dorn - 2014
Gale, Roberts, Finn, Holmes -2015
Gale, Roberts, Hampshire, Holmes - 2016
Gale, Roberts, Chase, Holmes - 2017
Gale, Ellis, Trueman, Aston - 2018
Holmes would have been ahead of Trueman with Trueman as our young gun. He left for first team and arguably for his own development.

Re: Tom Holmes
We also had Seymour in 2014. I think the original plan was for him and Ellis to start with Sneyd and Finn the back ups. Seems incredible now.HuddsTigers wrote:Ellis would have come in regardless of Holmes going or staying because we like to have 3 halves:

Re: Tom Holmes
I didn’t count him seeing as he was a punt and if I remember rightly we let him go in pre-season. He ended up somewhere like Whitehaven too.

Roberts 2018? I know he was down as full back but surely so was Dorn in 2014?HuddsTigers wrote:Ellis would have come in regardless of Holmes going or staying because we like to have 3 halves:

Re: Tom Holmes
Jordan Tansey was #1 in 2014 but switched half way through I think.
At the start of the season Roberts was #1 hence his omission.
