How long before the links start being thrown around after Furner sacked?

Re: DP - Leeds
Weird one is this. Sinfield was seen with Richard Marshall at the Salford game at the weekend, with a view to having him as assistant coach. Either he will be given it full time or Agar put in charge with Marshall his right hand man.
Re: DP - Leeds
Would Powell want to go? Would anyone blame him if he does? He seems a little bit unhappy at the moment. I for one hope he does stay as hes the best thing to happen to us since a long time.

Bar a big wage rise, I can’t see why Powell would go.CasAttack wrote:Would Powell want to go? Would anyone blame him if he does? He seems a little bit unhappy at the moment. I for one hope he does stay as hes the best thing to happen to us since a long time.
The Leeds squad is very, very poor. It’s not like they are a team full of stars who are underperforming, or they are missing half a squad through injury. They’ve just retained rubbish and signed rubbish (with the exception of the injury-prone Hurrell and want-away Trent Merrin).
Re: DP - Leeds
Wouldn’t be end of world If He went nice bit of compensation to. As long as we didn’t give it to Danny Orr it be right.
Re: DP - Leeds
I think Danny would probably be the next coach for us. If Powell left I think Sheridan would follow suit leaving Orr as the next in line. He didn't do a bad job steadying the ship once Millward was sacked.Mucky1978 wrote:Wouldn’t be end of world If He went nice bit of compensation to. Re: DP - Leeds
It's a non-starter for me.
He wants to be the coach that coaches us in the new stadium and has said this. Leeds may have also learned from the Furner experience the sentiment and past players doesn't always mean immediate success.
He's found his home at Cas as a local lad and has been given the freedom to coach the way he wants to. Think they'll give it Agar until the end of the year and look to get someone else in from Aus again later in the year.

Re: DP - Leeds
It’s all good and well saying he is a Cas lad and wants to coach Cas but how many times do we hear this in sport and life only for it to happen anyway?
I hope he doesn’t go but wouldn’t be surprised if he did. If he did decide it’s time to go then no way would I support Danny Orr for the job, not a chance.

Can I ask why you wouldn't support Danny?Lofthouse Tiger wrote:It’s all good and well saying he is a Cas lad and wants to coach Cas but how many times do we hear this in sport and life only for it to happen anyway?

Re: DP - Leeds
Because I don’t believe he is good enough or up to the job.
As has been said on here that ex players aren’t the answer and sentiment causes blinkered and poor decision making.
Let’s hope DP stays with us for many years to come so the topic of Orr never happens.

Re: DP - Leeds
Depends on the applicants.
Orr took over for a brief spell before Powell and if I remember did a really good job (though not entirely surprising given who and what circumstances he was taking over from). Doesn't mean it will transpire into results (Steadman anyone?) long-term but he's the best chance for continuity having coached under Powell too.
I'd hope we wouldn't be having this discussion for a good 4-5 years again anyway!

Re: DP - Leeds
Correct Hudds.
Just to add that if you look at what has happened in the soccer world with a temp manager that was given the job full time because he did well as cover then that should tell you enough about who you need to appoint and more so how much time needs to given in finding an adequate replacement and not just an ex player.

Re: DP - Leeds
Many options for Leeds, but Powell won't be one of them.
Re: DP - Leeds
Should really be merged with Furner post, not Cas related and not a rumour either, DP gets mentioned whenever a Superleague coach is sacked!Lofthouse Tiger wrote:How long before the links start being thrown around after Furner sacked?

Are people forgetting Leeds screwed dp over to appoint Smith years ago. I would have thought dp hasn't forgot.
