Very much so. It's a side to Wane which is a pleasure to discover. My respect for him has just shot up, and the fact that a RL coach can lecture big business is also good for our game.

I hear he's a decent bloke away from rugby. The rivalry Cas and Wigan have, he's a character you love to hate. But Rugby League needs coaches like Shaun Wane. I'd have absolutely no problems with him getting the England/GB job. However, if he get's the Leeds job then it makes the games even tastier.

The podcast is fascinating. One telling point he makes is his comment that most rugby players are flawed characters, because why else would you want to keep banging into people! He was speaking of Micky Mac, whom he describes as "wild". Makes you realise how tough a job a coach is, handling such young men.

I can only imagine the difficulty Terry Matterson had, in having to handle teams with the likes of Westerman, Sherwin, Chase in etc who did love getting wild!

He’s a great bloke. I’ve seen it first hand, he always made a point to speak to me. I used to sit near him every year in the same seat at Old Trafford and there was no arrogance at all. Don’t fall for his media persona. He’s a intelligent man that’s worked his way up from not much.

I hope he dosent go to Leeds though as I’m sure he will turn them round!!!

Shaun Wane is the only coach I would want to Succeed Powell. He is a class coach and did great things at Wigan. Would be a great coach for Leeds and would expect him to get them back challenging.
