RL GAMBLE
The RL allegedly, in trying to help clubs with their travel to play in France, are forwarding the travel expenses to the clubs at start of season, instead of paying the companies who arrange travel each month. With this being a large five figure sum to each club, the clubs that are owing money to their banks, this money will be taken gratefully by their respective Banks to wipe a debt off. It will then be left to the Travel companies who arrange the travel, to chase the clubs who are bad debtors for the money. As some clubs( allegedly mostly Championship sides) are in money difficulties, there will be Baillifs being sent to the clubs to collect the money on behalf of the travel companies, perhaps leading to the travel firms saying we aren't arranging travel anymore because of non payment.

Interesting, some clubs live hand to mouth. I without suspect it would be a few grand.

Just as an example. We take the academy team to play against Catalans every year. It costs the club about 25K with no help from the RFL.mart0042 wrote:Interesting, some clubs live hand to mouth. I without suspect it would be a few grand.

That seems expensive. Dependant on time of year, you can get cheap fares with jet2, cheap hotels and transfers. That must be a grand per person.Tigerade wrote:Just as an example. I did Catalan for £400, flights, accommodation, transfers the lot, that was summer time this year. I didn't include the expensive beer in the ground!

Has far as I'm aware we have only taken the academy to France once 2017 and they travelled in with the first team on a hired plane in and out the same day.mart0042 wrote:That seems expensive. The cost is in the charter. If you can afford it, the club gains heavily the experience of taking lots of players and staff.braytontiger wrote:Has far as I'm aware we have only taken the academy to France once 2017 and they travelled in with the first team on a hired plane in and out the same day.mart0042 wrote:That seems expensive. On a side note, if they chartered a larger plane and offered fans the chance to go with the squad and follow them all the time they are there, I. E. training and match day prep. You might get a few big payers that take a chunk of the cost.

Re: RL GAMBLE
The allowance given by the RL is for 25 personnel travelling to France, for flights, transfers and accommodation. Approximately £650 pp, i.e. £16500, which includes I am led to believe a mark up from the travel companies, they do have to make a profit or they would be out of business. What the clubs are being offered this season, is the chance for them to arrange their own travel arrangements, but as such, Jet2 etc, will want there money upfront as early as now, to arrange for large parties. I think the clubs will still use the sports travel firms just as before, and pay that company 2 weeks before they travel as that seems a better option.mart0042 wrote:That seems expensive.
